The invention discloses a steel surface rust removal method which comprises the following steps: S1, primary acid pickling: soaking steel subjected to oil removal treatment in a first acid pickling tank filled with an acid pickling solution A for primary acid pickling; washing the steel with clear water after soaking; and drying the steel for later use; S2, derusting and polishing: polishing the surface of the steel subjected to primary acid pickling treatment by using abrasive paper polishing equipment; specifically performing local derusting treatment on a seriously rusted part of the surface of the steel; cleaning rust slags generated by polishing on the surface of the steel after polishing; soaking the steel in a second pickling tank filled with a pickling solution B, and performing secondary pickling; washing the steel with clear water after soaking; and drying the steel for later use.
