A protective glove is disclosed having a flexible liner conforming to the shape of a hand and wrist and having a plurality of rigid guards secured thereto over the distal, middle, and proximal phalanx bones, the metacarpals, and wrist bones of the wearer. A distal guard is shaped as a cup placed over the posterior side of the distal phalanx bone. Middle and proximal guards protect the middle and proximal phalanx bones of the hand and may be embodied as rings positioned slightly distal of the finger joints and having extensions extending distally therefrom. A metacarpal guard secures to the posterior of the glove over the metacarpals and extends toward the anterior of the hand, providing a cutout to receive the thumb. A wrist guard encircles the liner over the wrist bones and is spaced apart from the metacarpal guard to permit wrist articulation.

A protective glove having a protective function against toxic chemical agents, especially chemical warfare agents, and a multilayer construction including a breathable layer is disclosed. The glove has a support layer and a barrier layer, which is assigned to the support layer and which faces the hand when the glove is worn, prevents or at least retards the passage of toxic chemical agents, and contains an adsorption layer based on an adsorbent material, such as activated carbon, which adsorbs toxic chemical agents. The barrier layer has, in addition to the adsorption layer, a membrane, which is at least preferably impermeable to water and air, but permeable to water vapor, and which retards the passage of toxic chemical agents or is at least essentially impermeable to toxic chemical agents. The membrane is arranged between the support layer and the adsorption layer. A protective sports glove including a vent opening and an arched panel extending upward and over the vent opening. The glove can include a breathable material that extends across the vent opening to provide improved air flow to and from the interior of the glove. A temperature resistant and fluid impermeable protective glove having front and back panels joined by at least one seam. During manufacture, the glove is dipped into a first thin liquid to coat the exterior surface of the glove. The first liquid penetrates through gaps in the seam and seals those gaps as it solidifies. The first liquid coated glove is then dipped into a second thicker liquid to coat the entire exterior surface including the sealed seam. A third coating may be applied to the interior surface of the glove prior to joining the front and back panels together.
