The present invention performance enhancement and reliability maintenance system and method pushes a processor to its maximized performance capabilities when performing processing intensive tasks (e.g., 3D graphics, etc). For example, a clock speed and voltage are increased until an unacceptable error rate begins to appear in the processing results and then the clock speed and voltage are backed off to the last setting at which excessive errors did not occur, enabling a processor at its full performance potential. The present invention also includes the ability to throttle back settings which facilitates the maintenance of desired reliability standards. The present invention is readily expandable to provide adjustment for a variety of characteristics in response to task performance requirements. For example, a variable speed fan that is software controlled can be adjusted to alter the temperature of the processor in addition to clock frequency and voltage.

A method and apparatus for treating organic wastes is provided. Organic wastes are separated into high and low moisture content organic waste streams. The low moisture content organic waste stream is subjected to a gasification process and generates a producer gas. The high moisture content organic waste is subjected to a fermentation process and produces a mixture of ethanol and water. Waste heat from the gasification process is subjected to a distillation column. Vapors recovered from the distillation column are mixed in a hydrous vapor form with the producer gas and produce fuel that can be used as an energy source.

An apparatus and method to protect fiber ribbons. A router having a body and cap are disclosed. Fiber cable sheath is stripped from one end, and the fiber ribbons thus exposed are inserted through the body and through cap bores in the cap. The cap is frictionally pushed into the body, and transportation tubes are installed over the fiber ribbons. The cap bores are sized to frictionally admit one end of a transportation tube, which has the effect of holding the transportation tubes in place. An optional insert is disclosed which has the function of reducing the body minor barrel bore diameter through which the fiber cable enters the router.
