This invention provides a
vehicle control device capable of suppressing vibration and
impact when a parking lock mechanism is released while the
drive shaft is in a torsional state. It comprises: a
drive shaft, one end of which is connected to a wheel; a motor capable of transmitting torque to the
drive shaft; and a parking lock mechanism capable of selectively switching between: a locked state that prevents rotation of a predetermined rotating component between the motor and the drive shaft, and a released state that allows rotation of the predetermined rotating component. When it is predicted that the parking lock mechanism will switch from the locked state to the released state, the device begins to output a torque from the motor that is counteracting to and less than or equal to the estimated torsional torque of the drive shaft (step S4), and stops outputting torque from the motor at the point when the motor begins to rotate (step S1).
