Network Communication System With Improved Security

ActiveUS20120174218A1Effectively shut downEffectively shut down the targets internet connection capabilityMemory loss protectionError detection/correctionPathPingSoftware engineering
A computer network communication method and system wherein software rendering software is interposed in the data communication path between a browser running on a user computer and the internet data sources (for example, internet-accessible server computers) that the user browser wants to receive information from. The software rendering application gets data from internet data sources, but this data may contain malware. To provide enhanced security, the software rendering application renders this data to form a new browser readable code set (for example, an xml page with CSS layers), and this new and safe browser readable code set is sent along to the browser on the user computer for appropriate presentation to the user. As part of the rendering process, dedicated and distinct virtual machines may be used to render certain portion of the data, such as executable code. These virtual machines may be watched, and quickly destroyed if it is detected that they have encountered some type of malware.

System and method for single sign on process for websites with multiple applications and services

A system and method for integrating the Internet front end sign on processes of the various systems of a financial institution which allows a customer to view and access its various financial accounts with the institution. During the initial sign up for the online access to its accounts, a customer creates it's User ID and password online during the same session. Once the customer has signed on (password) and verified ownership of at least one account, the system displays all of the customer's accounts that are available for access via the Internet website. The online ownership verification uses only a single account of the customer and the ownership verification criteria associated with the account. The account used for verifying a customer is first determined based on the accounts selected by the customer for accessing online. From the selected accounts, the system of the present invention creates a verification hierarchy with respect to the accounts. When determining the verification to use for the single ownership verification, the present invention selects the account from the hierarchy with the most stringent requirements.

Formulations containing propofol and a sulfoalkyl ether cyclodextrin

An injectable formulation of a sedative hypnotic drug, such as the anesthetic drug propofol, that is pharmaceutically stable and demonstrates a reduced incidence of pain upon injection. The formulation of the present invention employs a sulfoalkyl ether cyclodextrin solubilizing and complexing excipient, such as CAPTISOL® cyclodextrin (sulfobutyl ether β-cyclodextrin) to form a true aqueous solution and not a suspension. This formulation minimizes the allergic response and microbial contamination issues typically associated with propofol parenteral formulations. The present formulation may also reduce pain on injection as compared to the known emulsion type propofol formulations. The liquid formulation can be sterile filtered unlike emulsion-type formulations of sedative hypnotics. The liquid formulation can be lyophilized or otherwise dried to yield a solid formulation.

Methods and apparatus for providing a network service to a virtual machine

In a computational device, a technique provides network communications to a virtual machine. In particular, the technique includes receiving a first communications signal having a first address and data from an external device, performing a network address translation operation based on the first communications signal to obtain a second address that identifies the virtual machine and providing a second communications signal having the second address and the data, to the virtual machine. The technique may further include using an external network Internet Protocol address and port identifier and to translate the first communications signal into an internal network Internet Protocol address by accessing an entry of a network address translation table.

Motion estimation architecture for area and power reduction

A method for compensating for reduced picture quality when combining a multi-chip encoding chipset into a single integrated semiconductor IC. The method includes additional functions provided on the single IC to compensate for the negative effects on picture quality produced as a result of rounding 8 bit luminance pixel data to 5 bits, where the luminance data values are supplied as input to the search function. The additional functions are collectively referred to as motion biasing and are applied to influence the choice of a "best match" motion type, which is well known in the art. The biasing is performed by the addition of a weight factor to a total difference result that is calculated by the search function. The biasing is applied only for the purpose of influencing the choice of a reference frame that is not necessarily the frame which produces an optimal motion vector, but rather will result in using fewer bits to encode macroblocks.
