The invention discloses a preparation method and application of a sulfydryl modified
magnesium silicate passivator, and the preparation method comprises the following steps: adding a
magnesium chloride hexahydrate solution into a
sodium silicate pentahydrate solution, stirring, aging, washing and
drying to obtain a
magnesium silicate matrix; weighing a certain amount of the
magnesium silicate matrix, and dispersing the
magnesium silicate matrix in a container filled with a proper amount of an
organic solvent; in an
inert atmosphere, mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane is added into the container, a heating
reflux reaction is carried out, and the
mass ratio of the
magnesium silicate matrix to mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane is 1: (0.2-6); after the reaction is finished, filtering, washing and
drying a product to obtain the sulfydryl modified magnesium silicate. According to the invention, it is found that when the
mass ratio of magnesium silicate to mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane is 1: 3, the ratio is optimal, active sites on the surface of magnesium silicate are fully utilized under the ratio, mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane is not subjected to over-amount self-
polymerization and leaves unreacted hydroxyl groups in insufficient amount, mercapto groups are introduced to form stable Cd-S covalent bonds, and the
cadmium fixing ability is improved.
