The present invention employs hydrogels as acoustic couplings for clinical applications of ultrasound imaging and therapy, but is particularly applicable to high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) based therapy. While other materials can be used, it has been determined that polyacrylamide is sufficiently robust and transmissive to withstand the high temperatures encountered in HIFU therapy. One embodiment of a hydrogel coupling is configured in shape and size (length) to ensure that a focal region of an ultrasound transducer is disposed proximate the target area when the distal tip of the transducer is in contact with tissue. A dust collection chamber is disposed under the cyclonic air flow chamber and a partition wall is disposed between the cyclonic air flow chamber and the dust collection chamber. The present invention relates to a microporous polymeric battery separator comprised of a single layer of enmeshed microfibers and nanofibers. Such a separator accords the ability to attune the porosity and pore size to any desired level through a single nonwoven fabric. As a result, the inventive separator permits a high strength material with low porosity and low pore size to levels unattained. The combination of polymeric nanofibers within a polymeric microfiber matrix and / or onto such a substrate through high shear processing provides such benefits, as well.
