The invention relates to a device and method for measuring the central thickness of a spherical part. The measuring method comprises the following steps that 1) an upper measuring head and a lower measuring head are in butt joint via relative movement, and reference displacement values detected by an upper displacement sensor and a lower displacement sensor are recorded; 2) the spherical part to be measured is displaced in a measurement gap of a bearer, the upper measuring head is moved downwardly to make contact with and abut against the upper surface of the spherical part to be measured, the spherical part to be measured is translated, and the relative displacement extremum, relative to the measurement reference, measured by the upper displacement sensor is recorded; 3) the lower measuring head abuts upwardly against and makes contact with the lower surface of the spherical part to be measured, and the relative displacement value, relative to the measurement reference, measured by the lower measuring head is obtained; and 4) the relative displacement extremum and the relative displacement value are algebraically added to obtain the central thickness of the spherical part to be measured. According to the invention, measurement is simple and reliable, overturning leveling is not needed at the end surfaces, and the measuring efficiency and precision are higher.
