53 results about "Wetted area" patented technology

In maritime use, the wetted area is the area of the hull (watercraft) which is immersed in water. In aeronautics, the wetted area is the area which is in contact with the external airflow. This has a direct relationship on the overall aerodynamic drag of the aircraft. See also Wetted aspect ratio.

Disposable absorbent article having a visibly highlighted wetness sensation member

A disposable absorbent article including a wetness sensation member and visible highlighting indicating the presence of the wetness sensation member to facilitate an opportunity for the toilet training of the wearer. The wetness sensation member includes a permeable layer and a flow control layer. Urine deposited on the wetness sensation member can penetrate through the permeable body-facing layer in a z direction away from the wearer to the flow control layer. The flow control layer retards the passage of the urine through the wetness sensation member in the z direction while supporting the movement of the urine in an x-y plane to increase the wetted area contacting the wearer's skin and thereby enhance the wearer's awareness that urination has occurred. The visible highlighting is visible when viewing a body-facing surface of the article and may be associatively correlated with an externally visible marking and / or with the concept of toilet training.

The invention relates to multi deck passenger aircraft, having passenger cabins and / or service facilities arranged on the upper and lower deck and inner load bearing cell structure provided within aircraft body. The present invention is also directed toward methods for manufacturing derivative multi deck aircrafts. Energy absorbing, floatable cargo containers (24) attached to fuselage belly. External fuel tanks (26) displaced on the top of fuselage. Center wing region of the fuselage is using for arranging rows of seats and service facilities. Addition seating configuration for narrow and wide bodied aircraft is provided. Multi deck seating configuration significantly reduces per passenger operating cost over existing technology. Less fuel per passenger is required since there is less airframe weight and wetted area per passenger. Due to the lower overall cost per passenger seat within the multi deck seating structure, the net profit and return on investment in the aircraft are also increased.

Hull construction for small watercraft

A personal watercraft includes an improved hull design which reduces drag on the watercraft and inhibits porpoising of the watercraft at high speeds, while providing adequate buoyancy when the watercraft is at rest. The watercraft hull includes a pair of steppers positioned toward the aft end of the watercraft hull. The rear stepper has a greater height than the front stepper. This design reduces the wetted area of the hull when the watercraft is up on plane. The second stepper, however, provides additional surface contact should the watercraft to porpoise in order to stabilize the watercraft. The hull design also includes improved foot steps and adjustable sponsons. The foot steps are sloped upwardly in order to provide greater control of the watercraft when leaning the watercraft in a turn.

Rotary disk humidifier

A rotary disk humidifier of the type that has multiple parallel spaced disks rotatably mounted in a water reservoir in a housing with controls for maintaining the water level in the housing to obtain an optimum wetted disk area above the water level exposed to air flow to achieve optimum humidification. At one theoretical extreme, the water level is at or above the center of rotation of disks decreasing the area of the disks exposed to free air flow through the housing. At the other theoretical extreme with the water level just at or slightly above the outer diameter of the disks, there is a grossly insufficient wetted area of the disk to approach the optimum area. Between those extremes there is a mathematical optimal range of the ratio inner wetted diameter of the disk Ri to the outside wetted diameter of the disk Ro (or the average outer diameter of the disk—the disk may not be circular) of about 0.30.

Planing sailboard

InactiveUS20030003825A1Stable and consistent angle of attackReduce difficultyWater sport boardsSnowboardsSuction stressWetted area
High performance of a sailboard is achieved over a wider range of wind and water conditions by providing a hull having two or more planing surfaces which may differ in shape and / or aspect ratio. Drag due to suction at steps between planing surfaces is reduced by venting to the air. Cusp shaping of the respective planing surfaces can reduce and stabilize the angle of attack at the displacement / planing transition without causing fore-and-aft pitching effects known as porpoising. By confining water under the planing surfaces to reduce lateral outflow thereof through increased downward curvature of the bottom of the board, winglets, asymmetrical fins, fences and the like, the effective width and aspect ratio of the wetted area may be altered beyond that of the actual geometry of the planing surfaces to further increase lift and reduce drag while providing additional sources of lift at displacement, transitional and planing speeds. Steps and / or cambered shapes of the planing surface may be used to dramatically further reduce wetted area and further increase effective aspect ratio.

A cement plug is injected at the bottom of a sand sediment tube so as to prevent a cone at the bottom of the sand sediment tube from being damaged when a metal tube is put in. When the well completion operation of the uranium mining technological well is carried out by the method, a gravel packing segment and a sand sediment segment are arranged at the bottom of the casing, the ring-shaped skeleton sieve tube is put in from the upper end of the casing, and iron rings are arranged at the upper end and the lower end of the casing. A well cementing segment, a gel-cement paste sealing segment and a cement gel sealing segment are arranged between the casing and the wall the well. The well completion method solves the problem that a wetted area can not be guaranteed as a result of the malposition of the sieve tube and the ore bed and the layer crossing of ore bed water. The method can be widely used for well drilling and completion operation of the reagent-free in-situ leaching uranium mining technological well.
