Induction-assisted production method

In a production method for producing molded articles from fiber composites, superparamatic particles are selected which become coupled to an external alternating magnetic field. These superparamagnatic particles are added to a resin portion of a strip-shaped starting material further comprising reinforcing fibers. The strip-shaped starting material is then continuously advanced, and, while being advanced, heated by coupling-in an external alternating magnetic field to which the superparamagnatic particles in the resin portion become coupled. Next, the heated starting material is continuously molded into a molded article; and the resin portion in the molded particle is cured.

System and method for efficient and collective adjustment of sensor reporting ranges for long-lived queries

A system and method for providing energy-efficient support of continuous aggregate queries in a sensor network by efficiently orchestrating the collection and transmission of data gathered by a collective set of sensors to ensure conformance to a specified QoI bound. To ensure this, the sink communicates a potentially different value of precision range or interval to each individual sensor; the sensor is adapted to only report its samples back to the sink if the sample values fall outside this specified range. An additional way to specify temporally varying precision ranges to an individual sensor or groups of sensors is provided without having to explicitly communicate the precision bounds for these different time instants. Using temporally varying precision ranges permits the exploitation of temporal correlation among the sample values recorded by an individual sensor to further reduce the need for reports from the sensors. This approach is more energy-efficient and improves performance of long-running pervasive environment monitoring applications.

Method and apparatus for time efficient retransmission using symbol accumulation

An efficient retransmission of data using symbol accumulation wherein the packet received in error is retransmitted at a lower energy-per-bit level concurrently in the same frame with the new packet. The destination device receives the data transmission and retransmission, demodulate the signal, and separates the received data into the new and retransmitted packet. The destination device then accumulates the energy of the retransmitted packet with the energy already accumulated for the packet received in error and decodes the accumulated packet. The accumulation of the additional energy provided by the subsequent retransmissions improves the probability of a correct decoding. The throughput rate can be improved since the packet received in error is retransmitted concurrently with the transmission of the new data packet. The capacity is maximized since the retransmission of the packet received in error is at a lower energy level than that of the new packet.

Arrangements and method for measuring an eye movement, particularly a movement of the fundus of the eye

ActiveUS20110176110A1Higher effective image refresh rateGreat spatial measurement accuracyOthalmoscopesOptical elementsSpatially resolvedMotion field
In addition to a first detector for capturing a potential movement field of the eye in overview images, a second detector is used to capture a particular section of the eye in sectional images. From a displacement between two overview images and an intermediate displacement between two sectional images taken between said overview images, the eye movement is determined by linking said displacements. The sections are preferably illuminated by coherent light such that interfering light diffused on the eye produces a patch pattern. Alternatively, the sclera of the eye is illuminated with coherent light such that light diffused on the sclera produces a patch pattern, of which a particular part is captured using a spatially resolving detector in sectional images, on the basis of which an intermediate displacement is determined.
