The invention provides a driving control method of a belt conveyor. The belt conveyor is started in the standard starting time t, the power needed for normal running is P0, P0 is larger than P standard 2 and smaller than P standard 1, and three motors connected with the belt conveyor are connected with a PLC. The control method includes the steps that a, Pn1, Pn2 and Pn3 are input into the PLC; Pn1, Pn2 and Pn3 are the active power of the nth starting of the three motors; b, P which is equal to Pn1+Pn2+Pn2 is calculated; c, if P is larger than P standard 1, t' is larger than t0, and if P is smaller than P standard 2, t' is smaller than t1; and d, the three motors are started the (n+1)th time, and the three motors can be started within the time t'. By means of the driving control method ofthe belt conveyor, the PLC calls the real-time power of the last time of running of the conveyor, the real-time power serves as the input of a real-time power-starting time deduction relation in the conveyor, the optimized starting time is deduced, and energy losses in the starting process are reduced.
