Iterative reduction of artifacts in computed tomography images using forward projection and an edge-preserving blur filter

We present an iterative method for reducing artifacts in computed tomography (CT) images. First, a filter is applied to the experimental projection data that adaptively expands the detector element size in regions with low photon counts, until the desired number of photons are detected. The initial image is then calculated using an existing reconstruction technique. In each iteration, artifacts and noise in the current image are reduced by using an edge-preserving blur filter. Metal pixels (determined from the initial image) are replaced with smaller values. The resulting image is forward projected. Rays that go through metal are replaced with the forward projected values. Rays that do not pass near metal are kept at the experimental values. Filtered backprojection is then performed on the new projection data to determine the updated image. Finally, after the last iteration, metal pixels are copied from the initial image.

Method to eliminate striations and surface roughness caused by dry etch

A plasma etch process for forming a high aspect ratio contact opening through a silicon oxide layer is disclosed. The silicon oxide layer is plasma etched using etch gases that include at least one organic fluorocarbon gas. At least one etch gas is used that includes one or more nitrogen-comprising gases to deposit a surface polymeric material during the etching for maintaining a masking layer over the silicon oxide layer. The method of the invention achieves a complete and anistropic etching of a contact opening having a high aspect ratio and the desired dimensions.

The present invention relates to a method for improving the relative radiation calibration of a CCD camera. The method comprises: an improved scaling coefficient model is used for carrying out relative radiation calibration on images so as to eliminate fine stripe noise; based on the image data after the relative radiation calibration, the difference of average gray scale values between odd line data and even line data is counted; the difference of the average gray scale values is respectively covered on the odd line data and the even line data so as to remove odd and even image element difference; and a brightness difference value of a middle CCD array sub-image and a left and a right CCD array sub-images is obtained by image statistics, the brightness difference value is the fluctuation of the left and the right CCD array bottom level, and the fluctuation is used for compensating the offset value of the left and the right CCD arrays so as to remove the color difference of the three CCD arrays. The technical proposal of the present invention can effectively improve image quality so as to effectively remove the odd and even image element difference, stripe noise and the color difference in the arrays and between the arrays, and improve the relative radiation calibration precision of the images.

An image reading apparatus capable of continually conveying a plurality of originals in a stable manner while cleaning a contact glass of an image sensor and reducing streaks occurring in read images. An image sensor reads an original image via a contact member which the conveyed original may contact. A cleaning member, being provided on a turning member which is able to rotate or swing and disposed at a position opposing the image sensor, cleans the contact member's surface which the original may contact. The turning member is turned by a driving unit. A controlling unit controls the driving unit to turn the turning member so that cleaning of the contact member is performed by the cleaning member after the original has passed an image reading position of the image sensor and before a subsequent original reaches the image reading position.

A method for etching a feature in an etch layer is provided. A patterned photoresist mask is formed over the etch layer with photoresist features with sidewalls wherein the sidewalls of the photoresist features have striations forming peaks and valleys. The striations of the sidewalls of the photoresist features are reduced. The reducing the striations comprises at least one cycle, wherein each cycle comprises etching back peaks formed by the striations of the sidewalls of the photoresist features and depositing on the sidewalls of the photoresist features. Features are etched into the etch layer through the photoresist features. The photoresist mask is removed.

The invention relates to a preparation method of a colored glaze, which is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 95-110 parts of quartz sand, 42-46 parts of soda ash, 10-12 parts of aluminum oxide, 45-50 parts of lead peroxide, 1-1.5 parts of cerium oxide, 3-4 parts of antimony trioxide, 0.1-0.5 part of sodium nitrate and 1-1.5 parts of pigment. The preparation method comprises the following steps: melting, clarifying and cooling to form to obtain the finished product. The cerium oxide and antimony trioxide are combined to be used as a clarifier, and thus, the clarification effect is obviously better than that of the independently used cerium oxide or antimony trioxide; by controlling the cerium oxide:antimony trioxide ratio at 1:(2-4), the prepared colored glaze has the advantages of high gloss, few bubbles, high transparency, few stripes in the finished product, obviously improved quality and short clarification time (6-8 hours); and the colored glaze formula materials have long acting property and low softening point, and thus, are suitable for forming the colored glaze.

There is provided a printing device using a thermal head having heating elements in the line state in the direction vertical to the feed direction of a printing medium as a printing head. According to the both ends of the line of image data to be printed or pixel data in the vicinity, accumulation data on the thermal head (108) of each line is calculated based on the accumulation data on the preceding line. The accumulation data on each line is compared to a predetermined value. When any of the accumulation data is greater than the predetermined value, energy of the heating element (113) is lowered and the image data is printed on the printing medium (104) with the lowered energy of the heating element (113). Thus, even when a high-speed printing is performed, it is possible to prevent generation of a high-temperature portion at the both ends of the thermal head causing concentration irregularities in the printed image.
