The invention discloses a method for transforming a short-old tree low yield
citrus orchard. The method comprises the following steps that (1) deep
tillage, soil amelioration and
root system renewal are conducted, wherein pit expansion is conducted year by year along the peripheries of field planting pits, part of thick roots and thin roots are
cut off, and roots are led to grow deeply and expand; (2) base
fertilizer is applied repeatedly, wherein
organic fertilizer is applied repeatedly while deep
tillage, soil amelioration and
root system renewal are conducted,
organic fertilizer of about 1500 kg is applied each mu, and part of quick-acting
fertilizer is matched; (3) proper repeated
pruning is conducted to achieve crown renewal, wherein large branches are
cut back and pruned repeatedly so that strong branches can grow out of the branches, a
solid framework is formed, pre-emergence
fertilizer and
shoot promotion fertilizer need to be well applied in the
shoot emergence state, the
shoot promotion fertilizer is mainly composed of quick-acting fertilizer such as
night soil, and
solid autumn shoots need to be especially cultured; (4) diseases and
insect pests need to be well controlled, wherein the
orchard needs to be cleaned in winter,
lime sulphur is sprayed, and the diseases and the
insect pests need to be well controlled in the growth season. The method has the advantages that tree vigor and the
bearing capacity can be recovered after transformation is conducted through the measures for one to two year.
