A cartridge is set in a printer main unit, and has a remaining toner measurer which measures toner in a toner chamber upon setting of the cartridge. A cartridge memory stores information of a remaining toner amount measured previously. CPU compares the remaining toner amount measured newly with the remaining toner amount measured previously and read from the cartridge memory. If there is an increase in the toner, the cartridge is determined as improper cartridge reloaded with the toner. An alarm signal is generated. Also, printing is inhibited. In another preferred embodiment, shortage information is assigned to the cartridge upon using up the toner. The cartridge, if it has the shortage information, is determined as improper. If a characteristic of the toner is not within a reference range, the cartridge is determined improper. In another preferred embodiment, an upper limit of the number of times of toner reloading is predetermined. The cartridge is determined improper if the reloading time number comes up to the upper limit. The improper cartridge is set in a state in which operation is inhibited. Also, when the cartridge is disassembled, the improper cartridge is inhibited from operating.

Driving device for backlight module and display device thereof

A display device and a driving device for driving a backlight module are provided. The driving device includes a power conversion circuit (PCC), a PWM generator, a current control unit (CCU) and a voltage feedback compensation circuit (VFCC). The PCC is used for converting an input voltage into an adjustable voltage supplied to the backlight module. The CCU is used for controlling current flowing through the backlight module. The VFCC is used for receiving an output voltage from the backlight module and providing a feedback voltage to the PWM generator, so that the PWM generator adjusts the adjustable voltage accordingly. Therefore, the driving device submitted by the present invention can be reduced the entire power consumption of the display device and further avoided the current control unit happened damage also.

The decrease tendency of the maximum output values with respect to drive time is predicted to predict the lifetime of the photo-semiconductor. Further, the predicted lifetime is updated as time passes. Therefore, in this method, even if drive condition changes, or an individual difference of the photo-semiconductor per se is present, it is possible to substantially accurately predict the lifetime of the photo-semiconductor.
