Driver circuit for powering a DC lamp in a non-DC lamp fitting

The invention comprises a driver circuit for adapting an LED lamp or an LED lamp array to be used in a lamp fitting for a non-LED type lamp without modification of the lamp fitting. The driver circuit is such that the LED lamp or LED lamp array can be inserted into the lamp fitting as a replacement for a non-LED lamp such that the combined unit of the LED lamp and the driver circuit are retained in the lamp fitting and make electrical connections with the lamp fitting's electrical contacts for powering the inserted lamp. The driver circuit enables the LED lamp of lamp array to operate with any of an ac power supply, an electromagnetic ballast or an electronic ballast. The driver circuit comprises a first stage comprising a filter circuit and having an input connectable to any of an ac power supply, an electromagnetic ballast or an electronic ballast of the lamp fitting, a second stage comprising a high frequency switched network and having an input connected to an output of the first stage, and a third stage comprising an ac/dc converter and having an input connected to an output of the second stage and an output connectable to an LED lamp. The third stage is configured to deliver dc power to a connected LED lamp. The second stage is configured to operate in a low frequency mode when said driver circuit is connected to an ac power supply or an electromagnetic ballast of the lamp fitting and configured to operate in a high frequency mode when said driver circuit is connected to an electronic ballast of the lamp fitting.

System and Method for Visual Analysis of Emotional Coherence in Videos

A computer implemented method and system processing a video signal. The method comprises comprising the steps of: detecting a human face displayed in the video signal and extracting physiological, biological, or behavior state information from the displayed face at a first level of granularity of the video signal; processing any two or more of: (i) a script derived from or associated with the video signal to extract language tone information from said script at a first level of granularity of the script; (ii) an audio signal derived from or associated with the video signal to derive behavior state information from said audio signal at a first level of granularity of the audio signal; (iii) a video image derived from the video signal to detect one or more human gestures of the person whose face is displayed in the video signal; and merging said physiological, biological, or behavior state information extracted from the displayed face in the video signal with any two or more of: (i) the language tone information extracted from the script; (ii) the behavior state information derived from the audio signal; and (iii) and the one or more human gestures derived from the video image, wherein the merging step is based on behavior state categories and/or levels of granularity.

Passive lossless snubber cell for a power converter

A passive lossless snubber cell for a switched-mode power converter comprises an energy absorbing circuit and an energy resetting circuit coupled to said energy absorbing circuit. The energy absorbing circuit is arranged to release energy stored in a snubber capacitor of the energy absorbing circuit to a storage capacitor of the energy resetting circuit through a resonant pathway of the snubber cell in response to a first switching action of a power converter transistor switch. The energy resetting circuit is arranged to release the energy stored therein to a part of a circuit of the power converter in response to a second switching action of the power converter transistor switch, the second switching action being a successive action to the first switching action. The passive lossless snubber cell has several advantages over existing snubbering techniques. First, it provides zero-current-switching (ZCS) and zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) conditions for turning on and off, respectively, the switch over a wide load range. Second, it does not introduce extra voltage stress on the switch. Third, by taking the ripple current through the switch into account, the peak switch current during the snubber resonance period is designed to be less than the designed switch current without the snubber. Hence, the proposed snubber does not introduce extra current stress on the switch.

Method of Establishing a Video Call Using Multiple Mobile Communication Devices

ActiveUS20180343135A1Improved and enhanced video callImproved and enhanced and medium data handling functionalitySpecial service provision for substationTelevision conference systemsMedia typeElectronic communication
The invention relates, but is not limited, to mobile communications technology. The invention enables a user to use two separately operating electronic communications devices to communicate with one or more other electronic data processing and/or communication devices, where a first of the two communications devices associated with the user is configured to handle, e.g. receive and/or transmit, media of a different type to the media handled by a second of the two devices associated with said user. The method comprises establishing electronic communication of a first media type between a first electronic communication device of said user and a data processing device and establishing electronic communication of a second, different media type between a second electronic communication device of said same user and said data processing device. The data processing device may comprise a server such as a cloud based server. The first and second communications devices of a user may be associated with a same user log in account or different log in accounts of the same user. In one embodiment, the first electronic communication device of the user is used by said user for a video conference session and the second electronic communication device is used by said user for transmitting and/or receiving discrete media files such as, but not limited to, still images, text documents, SMS messages, etc. within the same video conference session. The invention allows discrete media data to be transmitted in parallel with video conferencing data within the same video conference session such that participants in the video conference session have access to both the video conferencing images and the discrete media files provided by one or more of the participants.

System and a Method for Improving Road Safety and/or Management

Provided is a system for improving road safety of a vehicle. The system comprises a central management platform for managing a plurality of network cooperation engine (NCE) modules. Each NCE module manages a plurality of edge gateway devices (EGWs) which are each located in a respective defined geographical area of limited size. Each EGW communicates with multiple roadside units (RSUs) in its area and exchanges real-time and low latency information with said RSUs and with any vehicle on-board data processing units (ICGWs) in vehicles presently within its area. Each ICGW is adapted to be installable in a vehicle. The ICGW is configured to receive real-time data from one or more on-board vehicle modules. The ICGW is also configured to receive data from its EGW and the RSUs which are themselves configured to receive data from a plurality of sources located within said defined geographical area and to transmit said received data and/or data derived from said received data to said ICGW. The ICGW is configured to process data to autonomously determine any one or more of: a threat to the vehicle; an alert to be issued; and a control action to be implemented for the vehicle. A size of the defined geographical area may be selected such as to enable data from said EGW and/or RSUs to be transmitted to said ICGW in real-time or at least at or less than a first, low level of latency.
