Debugging techniques in a multithreaded environment

A system for debugging targets using various techniques, some of which are particularly useful in a multithread environment. These techniques include implementing breakpoints using out-of-line instruction emulation so that an instruction replaced with a breakpoint instruction does not need to be returned to its original location for single-step execution, executing a debugger nub for each target as part of the target task but using a nub task thread for the nub execution that is separate from the target task threads, providing immunity from breakpoints for specified threads such as the nub thread via specialized breakpoint handlers used by those threads, and virtualizing the debugger nub such that a shared root nub provides a uniform interface between the debugger and the target while specialized nubs provide differing functionality based on the type of target being debugged.

Environmentally hardened ethernet switch

A device for hardening an Ethernet switch is disclosed. The device provides cooling for the switch, and, suppresses electrical transients and electromagnetic interference, which could affect the power supply, and data transmission of the Ethernet switch. Using this device, the Ethernet switch can be used in harsh industrial environments, such as those present in power utility substations. The Ethernet switch may comprise a dual stage isolated power supply. The dual stage isolated power supply has a first DC to DC converter for converting received power from the received voltage to an intermediate voltage. The intermediate voltage is then further converted to a voltage which can be used by the Ethernet switch. Each of the DC to DC converters also provide galvanic isolation and also transient suppression and electromagnetic interference filtering to decrease adverse electrical effects which may be inherent in the power received from an external source. The first and second DC to DC converter provides a first level of galvanic isolation which is greater than the second level of galvanic isolation provided by the second DC to DC converter. The power supply circuit can be used in an Ethernet switch as well as any other intelligent electronic device.

Method of making components with releasable leads

A connection component for making connections to a microelectronic element is made by providing leads on a surface of a polymeric layer and etching the polymeric layer to partially detach the leads from the polymeric layer, leaving a portion of each lead releasably connected to the polymeric layer by a small polymeric connecting element which can be broken or peeled away from the lead. Leads in a connecting element may be covered by an insulating jacket applied by a coating process, and the insulating jacket may in turn be covered by a conductive layer so that each lead becomes a miniature coaxial cable. This arrangement provides immunity to interference and facilitates operation at high speeds.

Frequency offset differential pulse position modulation

The present invention provides such a need by utilizing a frequency offset differential pulse position modulation scheme to transmit data between computing devices within a wireless network system. The differential pulse position modulation component of the scheme enables the present invention to provide relative immunity to interference for the system. In particular, such immunity from interference is achieved by utilizing a blanking time between pulse positions, which is large enough to allow the interference between frequency offset-differential pulse position modulation pulses to subside. The frequency offset component of the scheme enables the system to utilize multiple frequency channels to enable the system to achieve higher data rates. In particular, by utilizing a time offset between the frequency channels, the blanking time can be reduced, thereby increasing the amount of data that can be transmitted with a set period of time.

Brushless multiphase self-commutation control (or BMSCC) And Related Inventions

The Brushless Multiphase Self-Commutation Controller or BMSCC is an adjustable speed drive for reliable, contact-less and stable self-commutation control of electric apparatus, including electric motors and generators. BMSCC transforms multiphase electrical excitation from one frequency to variable frequency that is automatically synchronized to the movement of the electric apparatus without traditional estimation methods of commutation and frequency synthesis using derivatives of electronic, electro-mechanical, and field-oriented-control. Instead, BMSCC comprises an analog electromagnetic computer with synchronous modulation techniques to first establish magnetic energy and then dynamically share packets of magnetic energy between phase windings of a multiphase, position dependent flux, high frequency transformer by direct AC-to-AC conversion without an intermediate DC conversion stage.

Live-attenuated virus and methods of production and use

Presented herein are live-attenuated viruses and methods of generating thereof from a parental virus through a plurality of nucleotide substitutions in the viral genome. The nucleotide substitutions result in a change in codon usage bias within codons of one or more protein encoding sequences and no change in amino acid sequences of the proteins. The live-attenuated viruses display unaltered replication in avian hosts for propagation, but attenuated replication in mammalian hosts, when compared to the replication of the parental virus. The live-attenuated viruses in a form of improved vaccines can be used to elicit protective immune responses.

Brushless Multiphase Self-Commutation Control (or BMSCC) and Related Inventions

Brushless Multiphase Self-Commutation Control (or BMSCC), also known as Real Time Emulation Control (or RTLC), is a contact-less means for powering any electric apparatus with “conditioned” or “re-fabricated” multiphase electrical excitation that is synchronized to the movement of the electric apparatus. BMSCC inherently phase-locks the frequency of excitation to any speed or position of the electric apparatus being controlled by a natural electromagnetic processing means and as a result, the BMSCC is an Electromagnetic Self-Commutator. BMSCC should never be confused with any derivative of Field Oriented Control, which is the other means of conditioning speed-synchronized electrical excitation by iteratively performing “speed-variant-to-speed-invariant” transformations and frequency synthesis by the unnatural processing means of an electronic computer. The control flexibility of BMSCC realizes additional synergistic or complementary electric apparatus inventions as shown in the illustration.
