Controlled isolation splitter apparatus and methods

Apparatus and methods for controlled splitting and isolation of signals in a radio frequency network. In one embodiment, the network comprises a cable television network, and the apparatus comprises a signal splitter having controlled isolation loss at its output ports in at least one frequency band, thereby enabling communications between terminal devices at the subscriber premises that would otherwise be isolated by high losses typical of prior art splitters. The splitter apparatus can also be utilized with a filter / reflector circuit that advantageously provides maximal downstream frequency spectrum bandwidth while suitably reflecting the aforementioned communications to maintain them within the subscriber-side network without interference.

Reduction of vertical segregation in a discharge lamp

An apparatus for reducing vertical segregation of a discharge lamp. A current / voltage input sweeps through a frequency range between the first azimuthal acoustic resonance mode and a first radial acoustic resonance mode of the discharge lamp. The current / voltage input is subsequently amplitude modulated. Alternatively, without amplitude modulation, the current / voltage input sweeps through the frequency range for a first portion of the period, and then for a second portion of the period drops to a relatively constant frequency.

Architectured reinforcement structure

This invention presents a modified reinforced concrete structure, which has a steel structure composed of a beam steel box unit, column steel box unit, and beam-column joint steel box unit with lap jointing reinforced steels. The side plate and / or end plate of the steel box has through holes for concrete flowing therebetween. In this way, the workability of concrete grouting and tamping are improved, and the phenomena of hive, segregation, or floating can be avoided. It can also enhance the performance of beam-column joints (e.g. with better confinement ability, etc.). Applying the invention, the efficiency and accuracy of constructing beam-column joints can be increased, and in addition to better ensure the structural safety, it can also reduce construction manpower and schedule.

A method of fabricating an integrated circuit device comprises etching a trench in a substrate and forming a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) cell having a storage capacitor at a lower end and an overlying vertical metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) comprising a gate conductor and a boron-doped channel. The method includes forming trenches adjacent the DRAM cell and a silicon-oxy-nitride isolation liner on either side of the DRAM cell, adjacent the gate conductor. Isolation regions are then formed in the trenches on either side of the DRAM cell. Thereafter, the DRAM cell, including the boron-containing channel region adjacent the gate conductor, is subjected to elevated temperatures by thermal processing, for example, forming a support device on the substrate adjacent the isolation regions. The nitride-containing isolation liner reduces segregation of the boron in the channel region, as compared to an essentially nitrogen-free oxide-containing isolation liner.

Under the condition that the return loss is lower than minus 15dB, the bandwidth of 7.7 percent can be reached, the isolation is lower than minus 30dB, a directional diagram is stable, the cross polarization is good, and the gain is in the range of 6.8dBi-7.4dBi. The high-isolation dual-polarization E-type microstrip antenna can be applied to a micro mobile base station.

Apparatus for enhancing the dynamic range of shockline-based sampling receivers

Shockline-based samplers of a vector-network analyzer (VNA) have enhanced dynamic range by using a dynamic bias network applied to the non-linear transmission lines (NLTLs) or shocklines. The bias voltage applied to the NLTL provides direct control over the falling-edge shockline compression, and thus the insertion loss and overall RF bandwidth of the sampler. Alternating between a forward bias voltage to turn off a shockline sampler when it is not needed and thereby reducing spurious generation and improving isolation can be alternatively applied with a reverse bias voltage to turn on the shockline sampler in a normal operation mode. By measuring the shockline output and providing feedback in the reverse-bias mode, the bias voltage can be dynamically adjusted to significantly increase the performance of the NLTL based sampler. In the presence of a strong positive bias voltage, the incoming LO and its harmonics experience large ohmic losses thus preventing gating pulses from forming in the shockline. The ohmic losses enable strong isolation between the LO sampling channels and will increase spectral purity at the VNA test ports.

Power amplifier output switch using hybrid combiner

A multimode mobile terminal steers signals corresponding to different modes to different outputs of a quadrature combiner. For example, an EGPRS signal is steered to a first output port of the quadrature combiner and a WCDMA signal is steered to a second output port of the combiner. The combiner has a reasonably large degree of isolation between the output ports. The mobile terminal capitalizes on this isolation by reducing the isolation of a switch that facilitates switching between modes.
