Method of and device for position detection in X-ray imaging

The invention relates to a method of position detection in X-ray imaging, and to a device for carrying out such a method by means of an X-ray apparatus, a detector device, including at least two detector elements, and an indicator device. The exact association of the X-ray image with the object imaged is very important notably for intraoperative imaging. Exact knowledge of the position and orientation of the components of the X-ray apparatus associated with the imaging system is required for this purpose. However, it is often problematic that the lines of sight of the position measuring system are obscured by attending staff or other apparatus. Therefore, in the device according to the invention the detector device is mounted on the X-ray apparatus and the indicator device is provided so as to be stationary on the object to be examined or stationary relative to the object to be examined. Also described is a method of position detection in X-ray imaging by means of such a device.

Automatic sensing vector selection for morphology-based capture verification

A system and method for verifying capture of the heart by one or more pacing pulses using an electrogram morphology-based technique. Capture is determined by comparing an evoked response electrogram recorded during a paced cycle with a template waveform representing a paced cycle in which capture is achieved. The comparison is facilitated and made more accurate by selecting a sensing vector in which an evoked response electrogram in which no capture occurs is most dissimilar to the template.

Parametric profiling using optical spectroscopic systems

A gallery of seed profiles is constructed and the initial parameter values associated with the profiles are selected using manufacturing process knowledge of semiconductor devices. Manufacturing process knowledge may also be used to select the best seed profile and the best set of initial parameter values as the starting point of an optimization process whereby data associated with parameter values of the profile predicted by a model is compared to measured data in order to arrive at values of the parameters. Film layers over or under the periodic structure may also be taken into account. Different radiation parameters such as the reflectivities Rs, Rp and ellipsometric parameters may be used in measuring the diffracting structures and the associated films. Some of the radiation parameters may be more sensitive to a change in the parameter value of the profile or of the films then other radiation parameters. One or more radiation parameters that are more sensitive to such changes may be selected in the above-described optimization process to arrive at a more accurate measurement. The above-described techniques may be supplied to a track / stepper and etcher to control the lithographic and etching processes in order to compensate for any errors in the profile parameters.

Method for determining the position of an object in a structure

This invention relates to a method for determining the position of an object in a structure. The object receives modulated light waves from a plurality of light sources, which are arranged in the structure. The modulation is individually coded, and the position of the light sources in the structure is known. The modulation signals are synchronized, and thereby it is possible to determine the position of the object on basis of measuring the phase difference between the phase of each received modulated light wave and a comparison phase. The phase difference is used for distance calculations, which in turn give the position of the object.

Method and apparatus for suppressing communication signal interference

A frequency domain representation of a whitening filter is made to depend on essentially one unknown, namely, a scaling factor that is based on an estimated ratio of total base station power to the power spectral density (PSD) of inter-cell interference plus noise. In turn, that scaling factor can be computed based on the modeling terms used in a parametric model of the impairment correlations for a received communication signal. Preferably, the model comprises an interference impairment term scaled by a first model fitting parameter, and a noise impairment term scaled by a second model fitting parameter. Further, the scaling factor can be computed by directly estimating total base station transmit power and the PSD of inter-cell interference plus noise. In any case, the whitening filter can be used in whitening a received communication signal in conjunction with channel equalization processing or RAKE receiver processing, for example.
