A Pressurizer is a component of a pressurized water reactor. The basic design of the pressurized water reactor includes a requirement that the coolant (water) in the reactor coolant system must not boil. Put another way, the coolant must remain in the liquid state at all times, especially in the reactor vessel. To achieve this, the coolant in the reactor coolant system is maintained at a pressure sufficiently high that boiling does not occur at the coolant temperatures experienced while the plant is operating or in an analyzed transient. To pressurize the coolant system to a higher pressure than the boiling point of the coolant at operating temperatures, a separate pressurizing system is required. That is the function of the pressurizer.

A vehicle includes an engine, a booster, an exhaust gas sensor and a self-calibration arrangement for the exhaust gas sensor. When sensor calibration check is desired, a controlling unit opens a valve in order to subject a sensing element of the sensor to a supply of gas having a known gas concentration. Gas concentration signals from the sensor are compared with known concentration values, with the results being used to re-calibrate the sensor. The supply of gas can be received directly from the booster or from an optional reservoir. The invention is particularly applicable for use with a universal exhaust gas oxygen sensor in a vehicle powered by a diesel engine.

The invention relates to a method for controlling the boost pressure on an unsteady-running piston internal combustion engine with a turbocharger. According to the inventive method, a blow-off valve, which is connected upstream from the supercharger turbine in the exhaust gas tract, is controlled by an engine control, the position of the pedal and a boost-proportional gradient are detected by the engine control when initiating an acceleration operation and, when a predeterminable value for the boost-proportional gradient is surpassed, the blow-off valve is actuated in an opening direction in order to effect a predeterminable controlled increase of pressure.
