Antenna mapping in a MIMO wireless communication system

A method for transmission is provided to generate a plurality of reference signals for a plurality of antenna ports, with each reference signal corresponding to an antenna port; to map the plurality of reference signals to a plurality of physical antennas in accordance with a selected antenna port mapping scheme, with each reference signal corresponding to a physical antenna, and the plurality of physical antennas being aligned sequentially with equal spacing between two immediately adjacent physical antennas; to demultiplex information to be transmitted into a plurality of stream blocks; to insert a respective cyclic redundancy check to each of the stream blocks; to encode each of the stream blocks according to a corresponding coding scheme; to modulate each of the stream blocks according to a corresponding modulation scheme; to demultiplex the stream blocks to generate a plurality of sets of symbols, with each stream block being demultiplexed into a set of symbols; to map the plurality of sets of symbols into the plurality of antenna ports in accordance with a selected symbol mapping scheme; and to transmit the plurality of sets of symbols via the corresponding antenna ports, with each set of symbols being transmitted via a subset of antenna ports, with, within each subset of antenna ports, the distance between the physical antennas of the corresponding antenna ports being larger than the average distance among the plurality of physical antennas.

System for generating a wideband signal from a received narrowband signal

A system for use in providing a wideband signal from a received narrowband signal is set forth. The system comprises an extracted narrowband feature vector that corresponds to at least one characteristic of the narrowband signal. A narrowband codebook having one or more narrowband codebook index vectors is also employed, where each narrowband codebook index vector is associated with one or more corresponding narrowband codebook parameters. An analyzer is provided to correlate the extracted narrowband feature vector with an entry in the narrowband codebook. More particularly, the analyzer is responsive to the extracted narrowband feature vector to identify the narrowband codebook feature index vector that best matches the extracted narrowband feature vector. A signal mapper is provided to execute a mapping function of the extracted narrowband feature vector and / or the narrowband codebook index vector identified by the analyzer. In executing the mapping function, the signal mapper uses mapping parameters that correspond to the narrowband codebook entry associated with the narrowband codebook index vector identified by the analyzer. The signal mapper generates at least one estimated wideband feature vector through execution of the mapping function. The estimated wideband feature vector is used by a signal generator to generate a wideband signal that corresponds to an extended bandwidth version of the received narrowband signal.

Optical harness assembly and method

An optical harness assembly and method are provided. The optical harness assembly includes at least one optical harness cable having a termination end; at least one electrical connector having connector pins; and at least one active connector conversion unit coupled between the termination end of the optical harness cable and the electrical connector. A method for retrofitting an optical harness assembly into an existing platform is disclosed. The method includes removing a legacy wiring harness; installing an optical harness assembly having electrical connectors and an active connector conversion unit; and testing the compatibility of connector pins of the electrical connector to the active connector conversion unit. In another embodiment the method includes: identifying electrical signals present on each pin of each electrical connector presentation; programmatically adjusting an interface based on the identified electrical signals present; and mapping the electrical connector signals to digital signals. Alternatively, the method may further include: providing a personality adaptor coupled between the electrical connector pin outs and signal conditioners; configuring the personality adaptor based on the identified electrical signals present on each pin out of each electrical connector presentation; and providing configured electrical connector presentation signals to the interface.
