The invention defines a composition comprising: a) a
thermoplastic polymer, preferably a
polyolefin; and b) a stabiliser mixture comprising at least two of the components selected from (i), (ii) and (iii), wherein component (i) is a
hydroxylamine or
amine oxide; component (ii) is a
benzofuran-2-one of formula (I); and component (iii) is a chromanol, wherein, R3 is a substituted carbocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic ring
system, R4, R5, R6 and R7 are each independently of one another
hydrogen or a
substituent selected from chloro; hydroxy; a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group, optionally containing at least one
heteroatom; substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyloxy group, optionally containing at least one further
heteroatom; substituted or unsubstituted cyclohydrocarbyl group, optionally containing at least one
heteroatom; or hydrocarbylthio, optionally containing at least one further heteroatom, wherein when the stabiliser mixture comprises components (i) and (ii) and / or (iii) it is present in the composition in an amount of below 500 ppm by the combined weight of components (i) and (ii) and / or (iii) present in the stabiliser mixture based on the weight of the
thermoplastic polymer, wherein when the stabiliser mixture comprises components (ii) and (iii) without (i) it is present in the composition in an amount of less than 300 ppm, desirably less than 250 ppm, preferably up to 200 ppm, more preferably up to 150 ppm, more preferably still up to 100 ppm, by weight of components (ii) and (iii) based on the weight of the
thermoplastic polymer. Also claimed is a method for producing the composition, and the use of the stabiliser mixture and a specific stabiliser mixture.
