Servo system for disk-flutter in rotating storage systems

In order to handle platter flutter in a hard disk operated at high speed (e.g. 10,000 RPM) and maintain tracking of read / write head, peak filters are added to a head tracking servo feedback loop. In some embodiments, several lag-lead type peak filters centered at a plurality of flutter mode frequencies are provided to process a Position Error Signal (PES) read from the read / write head. The several filter are preferably arranged in series (i.e. to operate on the PES sequentially), alternatively the filters can be arranged in parallel. Phase lags and leads caused by the several filters partially cancel at frequencies intermediate center frequencies of the several filters. According to another embodiment two or more, preferably three narrow band filters are used to cover the spectrum of each flutter mode. In a configuration mode, a spectrum of the flutter modes can be obtained and used to set the center frequencies, and bandwidths of filters used to filter out the flutter modes.

Methods for Amplification of Nucleic Acids on Solid Support

The present invention provides methods for amplifying a nucleic acid from a sample containing a mixture of nucleic acids utilizing a solid support. Methods are provided utilizing user-defined primer oligonucleotides for directional amplification that assists in further manipulation of the target nucleic acid, such as sequencing. Methods are also provided utilizing blocker and displacer oligonucleotides for generating amplified target nucleic acids of defined length. One of these methods provides a first oligonucleotide and a second oligonucleotide affixed to a solid support or separate solid supports. The first oligonucleotide is blocked to prevent extension from the 3′-terminus and has a sequence complementary to a first portion of a target nucleic acid. The second oligonucleotide has a sequence that is identical to a second portion of the target nucleic acid. In this method, a sample is applied to the solid support and the target nucleic acid within the sample binds said first oligonucleotide. The solid support is then washed to remove unbound nucleic acids. A primer sequence containing a target binding region and a polymerase promoter sequence is then annealed to the bound target nucleic acid and extended producing a first duplex nucleic acid. The target sequence is then removed leaving a first nucleic acid that can now bind the second oligonucleotide. The second oligonucleotide is extended to produce a second duplex nucleic acid that contains a second nucleic acid. The second nucleic acid is then amplified by adding a polymerase.

AC adapter unit, storage tray for an AC adapter and electronic device

An AC adapter unit compactly houses the AC adapter block and DC cable so that radiation noise from the DC cable is not amplified. The AC adapter unit 4 has an AC adapter 7 that includes an AC adapter block 52 and a DC cable 51, and a storage tray 6 that stores the AC adapter 7. The connector-side cable part 51b of the DC cable 51 is stored in the storage tray 6 on the left-side part 6D of the AC adapter block 52. The connector-side cable part 51b has a bundled part 51c with a figure-8 shape when seen from the top opening 6a side of the storage tray 6. The long axis of this bundled part 51c is parallel to the long axis of the AC adapter block 52. Because the DC cable 51 has a figure-8 shaped bundled part 51c, the part that runs parallel to electronic circuit boards inside the AC adapter block 52 is reduced and amplification of radiation noise is reduced.

In a circuit and a method for amplification of an electrical input signal, a signal splitter divides the input signal into a first partial signal in a first signal path and a second partial signal in a second signal path. The first signal path has a first amplification stage for amplification of the first partial signal and the second signal path has a second amplification stage for amplification of the second partial signal. Each of the two amplification stages is supplied with current by a current supply device. Both amplified partial signals are recombined into an output signal by a signal combination element downstream from the amplification stages. The first amplification stage and the second amplification stage are coupled with a regulation device that regulates the amplification of the first partial signal dependent on a current difference between a supply current requirement of the second amplification stage and a supply current requirement of the first amplification stage and which regulates the amplification of the second partial signal dependent on a current difference between the supply current requirement of the first amplification stage and the supply current requirement of the second amplification stage.
