Apparatus for initial power control for spread-spectrum communications

A multiple access, spread-spectrum communication system processes a plurality of information signals received by a radio carrier station over telecommunication lines for simultaneous transmission over a radio frequency channel as a code-division-multiplexed signal to a group of subscriber units. The radio carrier station receives a call request signal that corresponds to a telecommunication line information signal, and a user identification signal that identifies a user to receive the call. The radio carrier station includes a plurality of CDMA modems, one of which provides a global pilot code signal. The modems provide message code signals synchronized to the global pilot signal. Each modem combines an information signal with a message code signal to provide a code division multiplexed signal. The RCS includes a system channel controller is coupled to receive a remote call. A radio frequency transmitter is connected to all of the modems to combine the code division multiplexed processed signals with the global pilot code signal to generate a code division multiplexed signal. The transmitter also modulates a carrier signal with the code division multiplexed signal and transmits the modulated carrier signal through a radio frequency communication channel to the subscriber units. Each subscriber unit includes a CDMA modem which is also synchronized to the global pilot signal. The CDMA modem despreads the code division multiplexed signal and provides a despread information signal to the user. The system includes a closed loop power control system for maintaining a minimum system transmit power level for the radio carrier station and the subscriber units, and system capacity management for maintaining a maximum number of active subscriber units for improved system performance.

Method and network element for controlling handover

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling a connection transfer in a cellular network having at least two systems, such as a GSM system and a WCDMA system. Based on a load determination, a service-based inter-system or inter-frequency handover of the connection to another system or to another carrier of the same system is initiated if the determined is below a threshold and service priorities are indicating it. If it exceeds the threshold, an additional load-based inter-system or inter-frequency handover can be initiated. If the load of the target cell is not known, a load estimation based on a learning process can be used to derive a probability of success of an interfrequency or inter-system handover, which may be used for deciding on the initiation of the inter-system handover. The learning process may be performed by evaluating preceding interfrequency or inter-system handovers to the target cell or preceding interfrequency or inter-system handovers from the target cell. Thereby, users can be shared between different radio access technologies or systems or between different carriers of one system to thereby improve network capacity and quality of service for both systems and carriers. Furthermore, unnecessary inter-system handovers can be prevented in case the load of the target cell of the other system is not known.

The invention discloses a method and a device for extracting lithium, which is used for preparing lithium carbonate, from a lapidolite ore by a chloridizing roasting method. The method comprises the following steps of: firstly, mixing the lapidolite ore, calcium chloride and sodium hydroxide with a compound bonding agent for pellet fabrication; secondly, performing chloridizing roasting in a square-frame shaped track type roasting furnace; thirdly, leaching out soot dust by using solution containing sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate to ensure that potassium, sodium, rubidium and cesium enter the solution and convert the lithium into lithium carbonate; fourthly, filtering the mixture to obtain a lithium carbonate solid, and circularly using the filtrated mother liquor to leach out the soot dust; fifthly, when an alkali metal salt is close to be saturated, indirectly heating the filtrated mother liquor by using the residual heat of the gas in the roasting furnace to evaporate part of water; sixthly, passing CO2 into the filtrated mother liquor to perform carbonation; and seventhly, performing cooling crystallization to separate out a mixed salt of the sodium carbonate and the potassium carbonate, returning part of the mixed salt which is used as an auxiliary material mixed and roasted with lapidolite for cyclic utilization, using another part of the mixed salt as a carbonate reagent needed in dissolution, and using the rest part of the mixed salt as byproducts of the sodium carbonate and the potassium carbonate. The method has the advantages of high lithium recovery rate, good material comprehensive utilization, large equipment productivity, high production efficiency, small water consumption in the process and less wastewater discharge.

Method and apparatus for network transmission capacity enhancement for the telephone circuit switched network

Adjunct apparatus for increasing network transmission capacity provides a low-cost, efficient solution for increasing the network transmission capacity of the existing telephone circuit switched network, while keeping the current network equipment unchanged. A Local Switch Network (LSN) Adjunct (LSNA) and a Tandem/Toll Switch Network (TSN) Adjunct (TSNA) interface with standard network elements, such as switches and cross connect equipment. These network adjuncts, comprising a set of low-bit rate speech coders, a dynamic timeslot manager and other supporting functions, advantageously transmit to and receive from a T1/T3/OC3/E1 trunk. More than one channel of voice is carried on one 64 Kbps DS0 timeslot, while still maintaining the voice at toll quality. A sub-timeslot and sub-timeslot bundling are introduced in the standard T1 or E1 frame where each sub-timeslot is analogous to a single bit of the typical eight bit word to provide more than 24 or 30 voice channels respectively. Inband control information is generated for carrying over a T1 or E1 trunk, for example, for mapping sub-timeslot bundles to channels. Conventional out-of-band signaling is provided via SS-7 or other out-of-band signaling system.
