The invention discloses a numerical simulation method for overtopping burst flood of an earth and rockfill dam containing a reservoir area. The reservoir area and the downstream submerged area are subdivided through triangular non-structural grids, and the area where the dam body is located does not participate in subdivision. The outlet flow of the breach serves as the outlet boundary of the reservoir area and the inlet boundary of the downstream submerged area, hydrodynamic evolution calculation of the reservoir area and the downstream submerged area is conducted. The dam front unit and thedam rear unit corresponding to the outlet boundary and the inlet boundary are dynamically adjusted according to the real-time width of the breach. The method not only can provide a downstream submerging form, but also can provide a water flow movement process in the reservoir area. Therefore, the application range of the dam break model is expanded. When breach outflow is calculated, the average water level of the dam front unit directly connected with the breach instead of the average water level of the whole reservoir area is used. A method for simulating a dam break process caused by seepage failure of a tailing pond dam body comprises the steps that firstly, two-dimensional seepage stability analysis is conducted on a tailingdam according to dam body material mechanics parameters, upstream and downstream water levels and other information, and the position of a seepage channel is preliminarily planned; constructing a tailing dam seepage failure breach development numerical model, simulating a seepage failure breach development process and determining a critical condition of seepage channel collapse; and finally, simulating the overtopping outburst process after collapse of the permeation channel by utilizing fluid mechanics analysis software, so as to realize dynamic simulation of the permeation failure process ofthe whole tailing pond dam body. According to the method of the invention, a high-speed camera, a wave-height meter and a flow meter are connected onto the same computer, so that the three instruments can be simultaneously started; when the dam-break experiment is implemented in a water tank, the high-speed camera records flow conformation, and the wave-height meter and the flow meter record the change of the water level of a downstream measuring point of a gate with the time and the change of the flow rate of the downstream measuring point of the gate with the time respectively. Time when dam-break water flow arrives at the measuring point is determined through a high-speed video, and a moment when corresponding water level and flow rate begin to rise is found out, and therefore, the time difference of the different instruments can be obtained; and the synchronization of the time is realized in follow-up data processing, and therefore, the time accuracy of the dam-break experiment can be improved. The time synchronization method of the invention has a wide application range and can be used in a dam-break physical model experiment and can be also used to realize time synchronization between devices in water engineering or coastal engineering physical model experiments. The time synchronization method of the invention has the advantages of simple operation, high repeatability and high transferability; and time synchronization error between the measuring instruments is smaller than 0.05 seconds.
