A system and method for monitoring a filter state of an HVAC system in a vehicle, the system including: a blower configured to intake and blow vehicle exterior air; an exterior air temperature sensor configured to determine a temperature of the vehicle exterior air intaken by the blower; an evaporator temperature sensor configured to determine a temperature of an evaporator; and a controller configured to: control an operation of the blower; analyze and determine the filter state based on temperature information determined by the exterior air temperature sensor and the evaporator temperature sensor in a state in which the vehicle exterior air intaken by the blower passes through the filter and the evaporator in sequence; and determine a filter replacement time based on the filter state.
