This invention discloses a reference
rework method for large-size molds. Four reference blocks are respectively attached to the first and second
machining areas of the mold. On
machine tool one, alignment is performed based on the original
reference surface and original reference holes of the mold to be reworked. After alignment, the midpoint between the two original reference holes in the
machining area of
station one is used as the origin of the
machining coordinate
system. Transformation reference holes are machined on the two reference blocks in the machining area of
station two. The top surfaces of the four reference blocks are milled into transformation reference surfaces, and the coordinate positions of the transformation reference holes are recorded. The mold to be reworked is transferred to
machine tool two to level the transformation
reference surface. The center of the original reference hole in the machining area of
station one is used as the origin of the machining coordinate
system for that area. After machining, the mold is rotated 180 degrees; the transformation
reference surface is leveled; after leveling, the coordinate positions of the transformation reference holes are input into
machine tool two to construct the machining coordinate
system for the machining area of station two. This invention provides more accurate
reference alignment and increases the safety of mold
rework.
