A valve for connecting a fluid sampling device to a fluid source is provided that includes a body adapted to be secured to the fluid source and a valve member moveably disposed within the body. The body includes a coupling interface configured to sealingly mate with the sampling device. The valve member is actuated by the sampling device during attachment of the sampling device to the valve body. The sampling device actuated valve member is moveable between a first position in which a flow path between the fluid source and the sampling device is closed and a second position in which the flow path between the fluid source and the sampling device is open. When the fluid flow path is open, the sampling device can withdraw a fluid sample for inspection and return the fluid sample to the fluid source without exposing the fluid to the surrounding environment.

A fluid-sampling method and apparatus are disclosed. The apparatus includes a valve assembly, an overflow chamber assembly, a vacuum assembly and a sample bottle mounting assembly in particular arrangements. In certain preferred embodiments the overflow chamber assembly has an inner vessel, preferably a standpipe, within an outer vessel which forms an overflow chamber in which fluid from the standpipe can be viewed. The valve assembly preferably includes a sampling valve with an outer shell, an insert member and a pivotable valve member therein. The pivotable valve member preferably has a main body portion with first and second circumferential grooves therein and a diagonal bore therethrough for properly directing fluid from and through particular ports in the insert member based on the position of the valve member. The method includes drawing the fluid from the reactor vessel through a valve assembly into an inner vessel of an overflow chamber assembly, overflowing the fluid from the inner vessel into an outer vessel of the overflow chamber assembly, and thereafter retrieving a sample from the inner vessel.

A sampling apparatus for use with a sample analyzer comprises a sample probe insertable into a process stream, and an extraction cylinder including a variable volume chamber and a piston movable by an actuator back and forth in the cylinder to increase and decrease the volume of the variable volume chamber. A sampling valve is connected between the extraction cylinder and the sample probe, with a sample line connecting the sampling valve to the sample probe, and the variable volume chamber having a capacity substantially greater than the combined volumes of the sample probe, sampling valve and sample line. A filter assembly is interposed between the sample probe and sampling valve for filtering undesired substances from the fresh sample prior to the fresh sample reaching the sampling valve, and a controller is provided for controlling the actuator and the sampling valve, first to move the piston at a first rate to increase the variable volume chamber sufficiently to draw fresh sample from the process stream and past the sampling valve, then to operate the sampling valve for injecting fresh sample into the sample analyzer, and thereafter to move the piston at a second rate greater than the first rate to decrease the variable volume chamber to flush excess sample back into the process stream and clean the filter of undesired substances filtered from the fresh sample.

The apparatus comprises a binary pump; an autosampler; a sampling valve; a first and second port switching valve; a first and second manifold; two or more channels, each having a check valve assembly, a separation column and one or more detectors operatively connected thereon; and a backpressure regulator. The apparatus also includes computer software and hardware to control distribution of fluid through the apparatus, including switching between a multi-channel mode or a single channel ode; 2) analyze data collected by the one or more detectors; and 3) optimize separation of analytes by controlling solvent combinations, concentration gradients, pressure and temperature. The apparatus excludes additional backpressure regulators or pumps on individual channels. Also provided is a method of screening a sample, using supercritical chromatography, using the above apparatus, where multiple samples can be screened simultaneously with parallel processing.

The invention relates to a device and a method for repairing underground water through a process of activating sodium persulfate by using Fe (II). The device is a semi-continuous inlet / outlet type reaction device consisting of three parts. A first part is connected with a water sample, simulates a soil water-containing layer of underground water and controls flow rate. A second part therein is provided with a slow-release material and releases sodium persulfate when being in contact with solution. A third part is connected with the second part and Fe<2+> solution and controls activation reaction of each component.
