Heart valve holder that resist suture looping

An improved holder, system and method for implanting a tissue-type prosthetic mitral heart valve that prevents suture looping and may also constrict the commissure posts of the valve. The holder may include two relatively movable plates, one of which attaches to the valve sewing on the inflow end of the valve ring and the other which attaches via sutures or similar expedient to the valve commissures on the outflow end. Separation of the plates places the sutures in tension and constricts the commissures. The sutures may be strands or filaments, or may be wider bands of flexible biocompatible material. If bands are used, they desirably cover the commissure post tips to further help prevent suture looping thereover. The flexible lengths of material extend directly between commissures of the valve, or may extending radially inward from each commissure to a central upstanding member. Desirably, a slide is created by the flexible lengths of material adjacent each commissure post, for example by crossing over suture filaments at or radially inward from the commissure posts. If an upstanding member is used, the lengths of suture extend axially beyond the commissure post tips to create a tent that wards off sutures that otherwise might loop around the tips during advancement of the valve along an array of pre-implanted sutures.

Storage Systems For Adsorbable Gaseous Fuel And Methods Of Producing The Same

A storage system for an absorbing gas including a plurality briquette units situated within the storage tank is disclosed. In some embodiments each briquette unit includes a liner or open vessel, and compressed gas-absorbing particulate matter associated with the liner for external support In some embodiments, the liner or vessel maintains the form of the briquette unit. The liner or vessel do not form a pressure tight vessel, and in some embodiments, the local pressure rating of the liner or vessel is less than the gas pressure within the storage tank. Exemplary gas-absorbing materials include but are not limited to methane and hydrogen adsorbing materials such as activated carbon, zeolite, and other appropriate hydrocarbon gas and/or hydrogen adsorbing materials. Optionally, each briquette unit includes a wrapper for preventing circulation of said particulate matter within the storage tank. Optionally, the storage system includes a mechanism for supplying or removing heat to at least one briquette unit. Furthermore, a method for manufacturing any of the aforementioned gas storage systems is disclosed. Some embodiments of the present invention provide methane-powered motor vehicles including but not limited to automobiles, buses, trucks and ships including a storage system with compressed methane-adsorbing particulate matter

Method and network nodes for reporting at least one dropped-out connection path withing a communication network

InactiveUS20070110079A1Fast transferRouting loops will be avoidedData switching by path configurationRouting tableComputer network
A network node in the communication network is a target network node, connected by a first communication path with at least one first and one second network node, connected to each other by means of a further communication path. A routing table is held in each network node. The direct communication path from the first network node to the target network node is entered in the routing table of the first network node as the primary routing path and the path leading from the first network node to the second network node and then to the target network node is entered as the reserve routing path. An analogous entry is made in the routing table of the second network node. The relevant reserve routing path is only used on disruption of the primary routing path. A disruption in the primary communication path, provided between the first network node and the target network node is reported by the first network node, by means of a message sent to the second network node. This controls the second network node such that, on a drop-out of the primary connection path thereof to the target network node, a transmission of data packets to the target network node by means of the reverse routing path, leading from the second network node to the target network node via the first network node, is prevented.
