A method of fabricating an organic film is provided. A non-reactive carrier gas is used to transport an organic vapor. The organic vapor is ejected through a nozzle block onto a cooled substrate, to form a patterned organic film. A device for carrying out the method is also provided. The device includes a source of organic vapors, a source of carrier gas and a vacuum chamber. A heated nozzle block attached to the source of organic vapors and the source of carrier gas has at least one nozzle adapted to eject carrier gas and organic vapors onto a cooled substrate disposed within the vacuum chamber.

A digital imaging system and method using multiple cameras arranged and aligned to create a much larger virtual image sensor array. Each camera has a lens with an optical axis aligned parallel to the optical axes of the other camera lenses, and a digital image sensor array with one or more non-contiguous pixelated sensors. The present invention is a hybrid ceramic matrix composite turbine engine component comprising an outer shell section(s) and an inner core section(s), wherein the outer shell section(s) and the inner core section(s) were bonded together using an MI process. An imaging apparatus appropriately captures a large dynamic range image of even a scene including a backlit person with a blue sky background in a manner that the person's face has an appropriate luminance level without saturating the background sky. In the imaging apparatus, an imaging unit obtains analogue image signals through exposure control that prevents a highlight from being saturated, an A/D converter converts the analogue image signals to digital image signals, and a signal processing unit linearly increases the dynamic range of the digital image signals. The image signals with the increased dynamic range are nonlinearly compressed to have a dynamic range of 100% or less through nonlinear dynamic range compression that intensively compresses a highlight portion. The imaging apparatus with this structure first increases the dynamic range of an image and efficiently compresses the increased large dynamic range of the image.

An image based obstacle detection method. A camera mounted on a vehicle provides a set of image frames whilst the vehicle is in motion. The image frames define an image plane having a vertical aspect and a horizontal aspect. A dielectric layer is deposited over the working and counter electrodes and contact holes are formed in the dielectric layer, exposing regions of the working and counter electrodes. IrOx nanowires (where 0≦X≦2) are grown from exposed regions of the working electrode. In one aspect, the IrOx nanowires are additionally grown on the dielectric, and subsequently etched from the dielectric.
