The invention relates to RF voltage-operated ion guides based on stacked apertured diaphragms. The invention provides ion guides consisting of diaphragm stacks that permit the ion beam to be shaped in cross-section so that it corresponds to the acceptance profile of the subsequent section of the device, therefore yielding optimal ion transmission. For this purpose, at least some of the diaphragms in the diaphragm stacks do not have circular openings, but instead have openings which shape the cross section of the emerging ion beam in the desired manner. In addition, the battery cartridge-connection system has excellent electrical characteristics, such as electric resistance at the connected parts, after the electrical connection is completed, and excellent mechanical strength to external impacts or vibrations after the mechanical coupling is completed. A flexible cutting element has a first shape suitable for minimally invasive passage into tissue. The flexible cutting element has a means to move toward a second shape suitable for forming a cavity in tissue. When used in bone, the resulting cavity is usually filled with bone cement or suitable bone replacement material that is injectable and hardens in situ. An object of the present invention is to provide a substrate for a thin film photoelectric conversion device, in which its properties are not deteriorated when its surface unevenness is effectively increased, and then provide the thin film photoelectric conversion device having its performance improved by using the substrate.According to the present invention, by setting the surface area ratio of a transparent electrode layer in the substrate for the thin film photoelectric conversion device to at least 55% and at most 95%, the surface unevenness are effectively increased to increase the optical confinement effect, while deterioration in properties due to sharpening of the surface level variation is suppressed, whereby making it possible to provide a substrate for a thin film photoelectric conversion device, which can enhance output properties of the thin film photoelectric conversion device.
