The substrate is subjected to at least two vapor phase reactants in the form of vapor phase pulses, repeatedly and alternately. Gas within the reaction space is purged between two successive vapor phase pulses essentially entirely by use of a pump connected to the reaction space. The reaction space is purged between two successive vapor phase pulses such that less than 1% of the residual components from the first vapor phase pulse remains prior to the inflow of the second vapor phase pulse.

An atomic layer deposition (ALD) apparatus is, suitable for thermal ALD and plasma-enhanced ALD of conductive and non-conductive films. The ALD apparatus can maintain electrical insulation of a gas dispersion structure, such as a showerhead assembly, which acts as an RF electrode to generate plasma inside a reaction chamber while depositing electrically conductive films in the reaction chamber. Fine tubules of micro-feeding tube assembly prevents plasma generation in them and reactive gases each have separate flow paths through the micro-feeding tube assembly. Process gases out of the micro-feeding tube assembly enter narrow grooves of a helical flow inducing plate and form helical flows which mix well each other. Symmetrically mounted pads on showerhead assembly and flow guiding plate maintain a symmetrical gap through which an inert gas flows continuously to keep reactive gases outside the gap and unwanted film deposition in the gap. Longer operating time before maintenance (cleaning) and thus higher productivity can be achieved.

A dual-band antenna is provided that combines two normally disparate communications modes into a single compact aperture minimizing overall mass and volume, while maintaining high performance efficiency and reciprocity of each individual mode. The antenna is compatible with both optical (near-IR/visible) and RF (microwave/millimeter-wave) transceiver subsystems for high bandwidth communications, applicable primarily to long- to extremely long-range (space-to-ground) link distances. The optical link provides high bandwidth while the RF provides a lower data-rate weather backup, accommodation for traditional navigation techniques, and assistance in cueing the extremely tight optical beam by matching the RF beamwidth to an optical fine-steering mechanism field-of-regard. The configuration is built around a near-diffraction-limited high performance primary mirror shared by both a direct-fed RF antenna design and a Cassegrain optical telescope. Material properties are exploited to combine the optical secondary mirror with the RF feed structure, providing a collimated optical beam interface at the antenna vertex.

A method for communication includes initiating a call between a mobile station in a cellular communication network and a subscriber unit that is accessible via the cellular communication network. A first connection to serve the call is opened between a base station in the cellular communication network and the mobile station. A second connection to serve the call is opened between the mobile station and an access point in a wireless local area network (WLAN). While the first connection is open, data traffic is conveyed between the mobile station and the subscriber unit via the second connection.

A method and an apparatus for bi-layer segmentation of an image or a sequence of images are described. A classifier is derived based on depth data of the image and another classifier is derived based on color data of the image. The image is then segmented by maximizing a weighted sum of matching scores derived from the classifiers based on depth data and color data of the image. The classifier based on color data of the image is derived using color sampling subsequent to generating an initial segmentation of the image.

A gastric balloon and method of adding and removing fluid therefrom are disclosed. The gastric balloon includes a shell, a receiver, and a retractable tubing housed in the receiver and extendable from the stomach of a patient to the mouth of the patient. The shell is inflated and deflated from outside the body of the patient. The method of adding or removing fluid from the implanted gastric balloon includes steps of inserting a gastroscopic tool into the stomach of a patient and grasping an end of a retractable tubing housed in a receiver of the gastric balloon. Further steps of the method include withdrawing at least a portion of the retractable tubing from the stomach and out of a patient's mouth and adding or removing fluid from the gastric balloon via the retractable tubing withdrawn from the patient.

An internal combustion engine that has a pair of cylinders each having a reciprocating piston connected to a crank shaft by a connecting rod. One of the cylinders is adapted for an air and fuel intake and a compression strokes only, and the other of the cylinders adapted for at least power and exhaust strokes. A conduit exists for transfer of gases from the one into the other cylinder after the compression stroke. The conduit has means for isolating gases in the conduit intermediate the compression and power strokes. Furthermore, the conduit is designed to prevent the transfer of liquefied fuel from the one cylinder to the other.

In a power inverter, a coolant passage is fixed to a chassis to cool the chassis; the chassis is divided into a first region and a second region by providing the coolant passage in the chassis; a power module is provided in the first region as fixed to the coolant passage; a capacitor module is provided in the second region; and the DC terminal of the capacitor module is directly connected to the DC terminal of the power module.

An inflatable cooler is provided having a rigid base, an upper frame, and an inflatable body having at least one fluid chamber connected to the base and to the upper frame. The inflatable body and the at least fluid chamber is comprised of a flexible material. The cooler has an inflated state in which the at least one fluid chamber is filled with a fluid such as air, thereby increasing the height of the cooler and forming a semi-rigid body structure useful for transporting food and beverages. The cooler has a deflated state in which the at least one fluid chamber is not filled, thereby providing a compact structure conducive for efficient storage and relatively inexpensive shipping.

A method for recycling the waste heat generated from an external process, which is fuelled by syngas, into a gasification process to enhance the energy density of the syngas produced as well as the overall gasification efficiency of the system. A method is provided for utilizing the waste heat contained in a stream exiting in the syngas fueled process to vaporize water and produce steam. The steam is then upgraded by first exchanging energy with the hot syngas exiting the gasifier and then within the gasifier itself to a temperature where significant steam gasification of the biomass occurs. The process within the gasifier is driven by introducing a small amount of air into the gasifier such that some biomass is directly combusted to provide the heat required by the process.

The invention teaches a practical method of recovering CO₂ from a mixture of gases, and sequestering the captured CO₂ from the atmosphere for geologic time as calcium carbonate and provides a CO₂ scrubber for carbon capture and sequestration. CO₂ from the production of calcium oxide is geologically sequestered. A calcium hydroxide solution is produced from the environmentally responsibly-produced calcium oxide. The CO₂ scrubber incorporates an aqueous froth to maximize liquid-to-gas surface area and time-of-contact between gaseous CO₂ and the calcium hydroxide solution. The CO₂ scrubber decreases the temperature of the liquid and the mixed gases, increases ambient pressure on the bubbles and vapor pressure inside the bubbles, diffuses the gas through intercellular walls from relative smaller bubbles with relative high vapor pressure into relative larger bubbles with relative low vapor pressure, and decreases the mean-free-paths of the CO₂ molecules inside the bubbles, in order to increase solubility of CO₂ and the rate of dissolution of gaseous CO₂ from a mixture of gases into the calcium hydroxide solution.

The CO₂ scrubber recovers gaseous CO₂ directly from the atmosphere, from post-combustion flue gas, or from industrial processes that release CO₂ as a result of process. CO₂ reacts with calcium ions and hydroxide ions in solution forming insoluble calcium carbonate precipitates. The calcium carbonate precipitates are separated from solution, and sold to recover at least a portion of the cost of CCS.

A plasma processing system includes a source of plasma, a substrate and a shutter positioned in close proximity to the substrate. The substrate/shutter relative disposition is changed for precise control of substrate/plasma interaction. This way, the substrate interacts only with a fully established, stable plasma for short times required for nanoscale processing of materials. The shutter includes an opening of a predetermined width, and preferably is patterned to form an array of slits with dimensions that are smaller than the Debye screening length. This enables control of the substrate/plasma interaction time while avoiding the ion bombardment of the substrate in an undesirable fashion. The relative disposition between the shutter and the substrate can be made either by moving the shutter or by moving the substrate.

The invention relates to the formulation and application of water based predominantly pH neutral microemulsions and microemulsion forming surfactant systems essentially comprising a surfactant or surfactant˜end, lactates)—esters) of lactic acid—and water/brine and optionally solvent. Uniquely the formulations are acid and caustic free and also do not make use of alcohol, glycol and glycol ether components in the systems as co surfactant, co-solvent or mutual solvent. In particular the invention relates to the methods and the application of this microemulsion technology for use in industrial hard surface cleaning applications especially the inks and printing industries and the oil and gas industry. In addition the formulations can be used in the production of microemulsion based drilling muds (which may or may not be Oil Based Muds—OBMs) and they may be used to enhance the drill cuttings slurrification processes for re-injection purposes or for facilitated cuttings transport.

A folding electric scooter comprises a chassis. The front end of the chassis is disposed with a front wheel and a handlebar used to control the direction of the front wheel. The handlebar is a folding structure. The rear end of the chassis is pivotally coupled with a rear rack. The rear rack is disposed with a rear wheel, a motor and a battery. The motor and the battery are used to offer the power to the rear wheel. In addition, the rear rack is disposed with a folding four-bar linkage, which forms the seat. By such arrangements, when the folding electric scooter is not in use, the four-bar linkage can be folded to fold the seat, and the handlebar can be synchronously folded, thus minimizing the whole volume to facilitate the transportation and the storage.

A cleaning composition including which comprises a surfactant and a propionate as co-surfactant and/or co-solvent. The composition can be used, for example, to clean drilling mud containing oils.

The present invention discloses a storage device with optimal compression management mechanism, mainly comprising a controller and at least a solid-state storage medium; where said controller at least has a system interface that may be connected to an external system end, a microprocessor processing system instructions, and a memory interface communicating with said solid-state storage medium; said controller detects and distinguishes the type of raw data to be stored, chooses the compression algorithm and associated parameters most suitable for the raw data, and then compresses the raw data into minimized data in the optimal compression ratio and writes the compressed data into said solid-state storage medium; in that way, the storage device may boost the storage capacity of said solid-state storage medium without increasing physical memory of said solid-state storage medium.

An auto-focus lens module uses electromagnetic force to drive a lens moving for focusing. The auto-focus lens is composed by a lens holder, a coil and an upper frame clipped on outer circumference of a lens so as to form a lens holder set. And the coil is fixed between the lens holder and the upper frame so as to reduce diameter and volume of the coil. Two arched magnets are disposed on left and right sides of the coil and are positioned by a top cover so that the volume of the magnets is reduced. Two springs are disposed on two guide pins on opposite angles, elastically supported between the lens holder and the inner surface of the top cover for providing the lens holder homogeneous support while moving for focusing. Thereby, the components of the lens module are simplified, the volume of the device is minimized, and the lens holder moves stably for focusing.
