Method and device for inserting and authenticating a digital signature in digital data

A method for inserting a digital signature into digital data is provided. The digital data has bits and the method includes the steps of: assigning predetermined bits of the digital data for receiving the digital signature; signing the digital data excluding the predetermined bits resulting in the digital signature; and inserting the digital signature into the predetermined bits of the digital data for subsequent authentication of the digital data. Also provided is a method for authenticating digital data having the embedded digital signature in the predetermined bits of the digital data including the steps of: extracting the digital signature from the predetermined bits; decrypting the digital signature from the digital data resulting in a first hash; applying a known one-way hashing function used by an encoder of the digital data to the digital data excluding the predetermined bits resulting in a second hash; and comparing the first hash to the second hash wherein if the first hash matches the second hash the digital data is authentic. In a preferred version of the methods of the present invention, the method further includes the step of inserting associated data into the digital data prior to the signing step such that the digital signature authenticates both the associated data as well as the digital data. Preferably, the associated data is inserted into the bits of the digital data excluding the predetermined bits.

Method of Resolving a Location From Data Representative Thereof

The invention provides a method of resolving a location in a second digital map from an ordered list of location reference points determined from a first digital map. The method involves identifying candidate lines and nodes in the second digital map, and using curvature, height and gradient information associated with the location reference points to identify the most likely candidate nodes or lines in the second digital map corresponding to the nodes represented by the location reference points and to lines emanating from or incident at the node in the first digital map. The method involves carrying out a route search between the most likely identified candidate node or line identified for one location reference point, and the corresponding node or line associated with the next reference point in the list, and repeating this step for consecutive pairs of reference points until the final location reference point is reached.

Ceramic powder transfer process

A process and system for printing images or text and transferring the printed image to a ceramic, glass or metal substrate, by means of a computer controlled inkjet printer spraying a water based ink onto the surface of water slide transfer paper to thereby form an adherent image area. Subsequent deposit of ceramic thermographic colour powder from an interchangeable cartridge, which allows alternative colours to be applied to the adherent image area, and includes the four colour set of cyan, magenta, yellow and black or any other ceramic colour that is required to reproduce the indicia including metals such as gold, silver or platinum which corresponds to the appropriate col separation being printed onto the waterslide transfer paper, the powder adheres to the adherent image area, excess colour is removed and returned to a storage vessel, the waterslide paper is then passed through the printer again to apply the next colour and so on until the required number of colours required has been achieved, a binding agent is coated over the top of the print to create the water slide off transfer or decal.

Fluid coupling for mobile equipment

In an assembly including a diesel engine, a fluid coupling connected to the flywheel of the diesel engine, a comminuting machine and a conveyor for feeding the comminuting machine, a fluid coupling module is common to various output power train assemblies. Slip speed of the fluid coupling between impeller input and runner output shafts is measured, and modulates or regulates the process feed rate of the conveyer. An electrically actuated control valve acts as an oil flow diverter valve directing oil into the fluid coupling impeller when a signal to engage the coupling is given, and in response to a signal from an over-temperature sensor when the temperature of circuit oil leaving the element exceeds a preset set point value, diverts the oil to a reservoir, thereby permitting the impeller and runner cavity to evacuate, which separates the engine from the load.
