A light-emitting diode (“LED”) matrix-array may be configured to both emit and sense light. The array may be driven in such a way so as to enable the array itself to act as the illumination source preferable for either reflective or scattering optical touch sensing. The need for additional opto-electronic components, or an external illumination source, is thus eliminated or at least reduced, and sensing accuracy is likely improved. Additionally, the method is practical for large dimensions.

Imaging system and method

An apparatus for measuring the coordinates of a point on the surface of an object comprises a projection system for projecting a beam of energy onto the surface of the object, a receiving system for receiving reflected beam energy from the target surface, and a detector for detecting the received energy. The projection system comprises a beam expander for expanding the width of the beam, and a focussing device for focussing the projected beam. The position of the reflected beam energy at the detector provides a measure of the range of the point on the target surface using triangulation and the direction of the projected beam provides the x and y coordinates. The focussing device can be controlled to vary the focal length of the projected beam and to control the beam size at the target object to vary the area of the target surface illuminated by the beam and thereby to control the resolution of the measurements.

The application discloses a pixel circuit based on a double-gate transistor and a drive method thereof. In one embodiment, the pixel circuit comprises a light-emitting device OLED, a drive transistor T1, switch transistors T2-T5, a capacitor C1 and a capacitor C2; and the drive transistor T1 is a double-gate transistor and is used to drive the light-emitting device OLED to emit light. For the drive transistor in the pixel circuit of the application, the double-gate transistor is used to replace a single-gate transistor as a drive transistor in a traditional technology, a bottom gate of the double-gate transistor is used as the main gate, and then a top gate source voltage is used to adjust a threshold voltage of the drive transistor; and, because stability of a double-gate a-IGZO TFT is higher than stability of a single-gate device, the double-gate a-IGZO TFT can achieve threshold extraction and compensation and can achieve good display uniformity at the same time.

Disclosed herein is an Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting-Diode (AMOLED) drive circuit using transient current feedback. The AMOLED drive circuit includes a current Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC), a data line drive transistor, a constant current source, a variable current source, a differential amplifier, and a transient charging current control unit. The DAC generates current corresponding to input digital data. The data line drive transistor is configured such that the drain terminal thereof is connected to the output node of the current DAC. The constant current source is connected between the source terminal of the data line drive transistor and a ground. The variable current source is connected between both the output node of the current DAC and the drain terminal of the drive transistor, and a voltage source. The differential amplifier is configured to input the output voltage thereof to the gate terminal of the drive transistor. The transient charging current control unit is configured to increase or decrease the bias current of the variable current source depending on variation in the voltage of the output node of the current DAC.

A robot hand has a plurality of fingers including a contact sensing finger that senses contact with an object. A base provided with the fingers detects a resultant reaction force that is the combination of reaction forces from the fingers. When no resultant reaction force is detected, the plurality of fingers are moved toward the object, and when the contact sensing finger comes into contact with the object, a force that drives the fingers is switched to a force corresponding to a grasp force. When the contact sensing finger has not come into contact with the object but a resultant reaction force is detected, the driving of the fingers is terminated and the position of the base is corrected by moving the base in a direction in which the resultant reaction force having acted thereon is not detected any more.

Such a cell may employ an alignment layer material with a high pretilt angle. A stacked display may be produced including at least one cell with at least one homogeneous alignment surface. In particular, a stacked cell display may include a lower cell with two homogeneous alignment surfaces and an upper cell in which the top side has an inhomogeneous alignment surface and the bottom side has a homogeneous alignment surface. The present invention achieves any one or combinations of the above features through the use of the homogeneous alignment surface produced with a predetermined alignment layer material and predetermined alignment conditions. The invention also includes a method of making the inventive display and the stacked inventive display.
