4 results about "Water maze" patented technology

A water maze is a device used to test an animal's memory in which the alleys are filled with water, providing a motivation to escape. Many different mazes exist, such as T- and Y-mazes and radial arm mazes. Water mazes have been used to test discrimination learning and spatial learning abilities. The Morris water navigation task is often called a "water maze task", but this is erroneous as it is not, properly speaking, a maze.

An animal water entry system for the Morris water maze experiment

ActiveCN224419726UWater mazeFishery
This utility model relates to the field of animal maze technology, specifically to an animal water entry system for the Morris water maze experiment, aiming to solve the technical problems of tracking anomalies caused by manual release and time errors caused by human collaboration. The system includes a pool, pipes, an electrically controlled gate, a pedal, and a computer. The pool is filled with water, the pipes are installed on the side wall of the pool, the electrically controlled gate controls the opening and closing of the pipe openings, the pedal controls the electrically controlled gate, and the computer has built-in experimental software for recording experiments. Pipes are installed on the side wall of the pool, and experimental animals are placed inside the pipes. The electrically controlled gate prevents experimental animals from entering the pool. At the start of the experiment, the pedal is pressed, which simultaneously controls the opening of the electrically controlled gate and the start of the experimental software in the computer to avoid time errors. Furthermore, because an electrically controlled gate is used, it avoids the light shadows caused by manually placing experimental animals, thus preventing tracking anomalies.

Application of Allium macrostemon extract in the preparation of drugs for the prevention and / or treatment of Parkinson's disease and memory impairment

This invention utilizes *Allium macrostemon* to obtain its aqueous extract, petroleum ether extract, dichloromethane extract, ethyl acetate extract, and n-butanol extract. The effects of these aqueous extracts and extracts of different polarities on the learning and memory functions of D-galactose-induced aging model mice were investigated using Y-maze, darkness avoidance, Morris water maze, and laser speckle cerebral blood flow assays. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), SOD, and MDA were also measured. Multiple experiments demonstrated that *Allium macrostemon* can improve memory function in mice. Furthermore, the effects of *Allium macrostemon* extract on arecoline- or oxidative tremor-induced tremor behavior in mice were studied. The results showed that *Allium macrostemon* extract can effectively shorten the duration of tremors, proposing a new application for *Allium macrostemon* extract in the preparation of drugs for the prevention and / or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, providing broad application prospects for the treatment or adjuvant therapy of neurodegenerative diseases.

Application of carbon quantum dots from Polygonatum sibiricum in the preparation of drugs for treating vascular dementia

PendingCN122272721APolygonatum cyrtonemaSpatial learning
This invention discloses the application of Polygonatum odoratum carbon quantum dots (PC-CQDs) in the preparation of drugs for treating vascular dementia, belonging to the field of pharmaceutical technology. This invention is the first to apply PC-CQDs to the treatment of vascular dementia. Morris water maze test and hippocampal histopathological analysis confirmed that PC-CQDs can significantly improve spatial learning and memory abilities in VaD rats, protect hippocampal neurons, and exhibit good biocompatibility. This invention provides a new drug option for the treatment of vascular dementia, possessing significant clinical application value and broad market prospects.
