A regenerator having a thermal diffusivity matrix is presented. The thermal diffusivity matrix includes magneto-caloric material having multiple miniature protrusions intimately packed to form a gap between the protrusions. A fluid path is provided within the gap to facilitate flow of a heat exchange fluid and further provide efficient thermal exchange between the heat exchange fluid and magneto-caloric material. A first layer is disposed on each of the miniature protrusion to physically isolate the heat exchange fluid and magneto-caloric material, wherein the first layer further includes a soft magnetic material configured to simultaneously enhance a permeability and a thermal efficiency of the thermal diffusivity matrix.

Provided is a compact apparatus for measuring the flow rate of a fluid. The apparatus includes a heated measure element and a heated reference element which are in substantially the same thermal environment within a measure cell, except that the measure element is situated in the path of the cooling fluid flow and the reference element is sheltered from this direct fluid flow. These elements are arranged as parallel and concentric planar elements that are essentially identical to each other with matching thermal characteristics. The elements are electrically connected in a Wheatstone bridge arrangement. Thermal exchange between the reference and measure elements is used to optimise noise rejection due to common mode background thermal effects. Measured parameters from the bridge can be used to derive the fluid flow rate.

Improved fluid reservoir designs providing for little or no dead volume or un-swept volume while providing efficient heat exchange are disclosed. Representative fluid reservoirs can have a serpentine flow passage with a cross-section selected such that fluid flow sweeps the entire cross-sectional volume while reducing or eliminating dead volume. The cross-sectional shape of the flow passage can be selected to have a larger surface contact with the cooling environment relative to circular cross-sections. The fluid reservoirs can be molded from two sheets of polymer material that are joined to form the fluid reservoir. Alternatively, the fluid reservoir can be formed from flexible polymer materials that are bonded along seams to demarcate a flow channel. Fluid reservoirs can be located either upstream or downstream of a filtering system to provide chilled filtered liquid. Fluid reservoirs can be associated with an appliance, such as a refrigerator. Methods of fabricating the fluid reservoirs are also disclosed.

Solid state lighting

The present invention provides a solid-state lighting fixture and lamp for down light for use in applications especially in recessed lighting. In particular, the lamp of the subject invention may be configured as a direct screw-in replacement for common R-30 style incandescent flood lamp and it may be used existing luminaires. In one preferred embodiment of the present invention, a lamp mounted in a recessed light luminaire for down lighting has one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) that are thermally coupled to a heat sink having fins for cooling by ambient air. The fins are configured so that air warmed by the fins can rise inside the luminaire and transfer its heat to it. Air cooled by the luminaire is allowed to sink and may flow out of the luminaire via a gap between the heat sink and the luminaire. Fresh cooler air may be drawn in between the fins to replace out-flowing air. This process of heating and cooling of air established a natural convection flow. Natural convective air flow allows for efficient thermal communication between the heat sink and the luminaire, thereby allowing for lower LED junction temperature and longer LED lifetime.

The invention discloses a computer embedded water-cooling heat dissipation main box, including a main box, a placement plate is horizontally arranged in the main box, the lower end of that main box isprovided with a cooling water tank, the main box body is provided with a water collecting chamber, an inlet pipe, a filter sleeve, a fixing plate, activated carbon and a permeable water pipe, the lower end of the permeable water pipe is provided with a connecting water pipe, the two sides of the main box body are provided with a water outlet pipe and a return pipe, the two sides of the main box body are provided with heat conduction columns, the periphery of the water outlet pipe and the return pipe is provided with a radiating fin, and a circulating pump is arranged on the back of the main box body. As the water collecting chamber, the filter sleeve, the fixing plate,the activated carbon and the permeable water pipe can filter the impurities in the water source, as the industrial waste water is used for repeatedly cooling the machine case, the utilization rate of materials is improved, the circulating pump is adopted to pass through the circulating water body, the heat exchange is carried out through the heat conduction column and the box body, the circulating heat dissipation is carried out through the radiating fins, and the vibration damping and stabilizing device is added atthe bottom, so that the stability is improved.
