This invention relates to the field of aquatic feed additives and
aquaculture technology, specifically a method and application for improving the
selenium content and meat quality of *Siniperca maculatus* using
selenium-enriched
algae. The steps include: screening *
Chlorella* from naturally
selenium-rich water bodies and the intestines of *Siniperca maculatus*; culturing *
Chlorella* in BG11 medium containing 4 mg / L Na2SeO3 at 25°C under 1540 μmol / L
photon illumination for one week; then scaling up the culture in a
photobioreactor for four weeks; centrifuging, washing, and vacuum freeze-
drying to obtain selenium-enriched
algae powder; adding the
powder at 0.1~0.9 mg / kg to the basic feed to make pelleted feed, and feeding it to *Siniperca maculatus* with an initial
body weight of 10±2 g. This method can increase the selenium content in fish
muscle by 20%~111%, reduce the content of
heavy metals such as As, Cd, and Hg, improve growth performance and meat quality, and is safe, easily scalable, and contributes to the
green development of
aquaculture.
