A novel electrochemical fuel cell comprising at least one fuel cell assembly comprising a Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) interposed between an anode separator and a cathode separator. The Membrane Electrode Assembly comprises a solid polymer electrolyte or Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) interposed between an anode and a cathode, each electrode comprising electrocatalyst. The anode separator contains the fuel flow field distribution features necessary to communicate the fuel to said anode. The cathode separator contains the oxidant flow field distribution features necessary to communicate the oxidant to said cathode. In addition, a Heat Transfer (HT) separator may be integrated into said fuel cell assembly. The Heat Transfer separator contains the flow field distribution features necessary to communicate Heat Transfer Fluid (HTF) through a Heat Transfer Zone (HTZ) in said fuel cell assembly in order to control the thermal conditions of the fuel cell assembly and stack. Each of the said anode, cathode and Heat Transfer separators are made up of a respective series of multiple conductive compression gaskets possessing inter-related fluid distribution channel and manifold features that form intra-communicating systems for the distribution of fuel, oxidant and Heat Transfer Fluid throughout the fuel cell separator and stack. Under sufficient mechanical load, the respective series of multiple compression gaskets are consolidated into fuel cell separators that demonstrate sufficient structural integrity to contain the PEMFC fluids under substantial pressure; that demonstrate sufficient electrical and thermal conductivity to enable the operation of a high-performing Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell; that demonstrate sufficient material obduracy to bear the compressive load necessary to seal the fuel cell assembly and fuel cell stack; and that demonstrate sufficient fluid impermeability in order prevent fluid migration through the gasket material. Within the consolidated fuel cell separators, the inter-related channel and manifold features form an intra-communicating system for the distribution of fuel, oxidant and Heat Transfer Fluid throughout the fuel cell assembly and fuel cell stack. In addition, the present invention includes methods of manufacturing said electrochemical fuel cell.

A radiation emitting device of the present invention includes at least one radiation emitter, first and second electrical leads electrically coupled to the radiation emitter, and an integral encapsulant configured to encapsulate the radiation emitter and a portion of the first and second electrical leads. The encapsulant has at least a first zone and a second zone, where the second zone exhibits at least one different characteristic from the first zone. Such different characteristics may be a physical, structural, and/or compositional characteristic. Preferably, the at least one different characteristic includes at least one of the following: mechanical strength, thermal conductivity, thermal capacity, coefficient of thermal expansion, specific heat, oxygen and moisture impermeability, adhesion, and transmittance with respect to radiation emitted from the radiation emitter. A connecting ostomy device for coupling a collecting bag to a fixing device (10) includes a first joining part (16) connected to the fixing device and a second joining part (12) connected to the collecting bag. A prepreg composite material that includes a fiber layer and a resin comprising a thermoset resin component, a curing agent and a fibrous micropulp. The micropulp component is an aramid fiber having a volume average length of from 0.01 to 100 micrometers. The prepreg is useful in composite panel construction for minimizing fluid permeation into the cured structure. This prepreg is particularly suitable for making honeycomb sandwich panels. A fuel storage device includes a fuel tank that stores liquid fuel which is fed through a fill opening of a vehicle. The fuel tank includes a tank case and a separating film. The tank case has a projecting shape in section and defines a two-tiered upper-lower fuel storage chamber in a state where the fuel tank is disposed in the vehicle. The separating film is deformable in the tank case and has impermeability against liquid fuel in the fuel storage chamber. The fuel storage chamber includes a primary fuel storage chamber and a secondary fuel storage chamber. In accordance with a version of the invention, graphene with a ferroelectric material is used as the transparent electrode material in an electrochromic device. The use of curved and dynamically flexing substrates enables flexible and stretchable applications for electrochromic films. Furthermore, the nonreactive and impermeable nature of graphene increases the durability of the device through increased resistance to external impurities. An electrochemical cell comprising a lithium anode, a silver vanadium oxide cathode having a relatively lower basis weight, and an electrolyte activating the anode and the cathode is described. By limiting the amount of cathode active material per unit area (i.e. basis weight) facing the anode in the Li/SVO cell, the magnitude of the passivating film growth at the solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) and its relative impermeability to lithium ion diffusion is reduced. It is provided an underground structure, usable at least as a shelter, having a light weight substantially cylindrical portion, of a cylindrical casing having a weight to area ratio in the range of 8 to 30 kg/m2. An electrochemical cell comprising a lithium anode, a cathode comprising a blank cut from a free-standing sheet of a silver vanadium oxide mixture contacted to a current collector.
