The method comprises the following steps: 1) installing a diagnostic module in diagnostic CAN nodes in a CAN in a CAN/LIN (Controller Area Network/Local Interconnect Network) secondary network; 2) converting the structure diagram of the CAN/LIN secondary network into a topological diagram thereof, and pre-setting the topological diagram thereof in the diagnostic module; 3) defining the target nodes in the topological diagram, and pre-setting the defined target nodes in the diagnostic module; 4) locating the target path collection of all the non-target nodes in the topological diagram to corresponding target nodes by the diagnostic module; 5) judging the state of each non-target node by the diagnostic module according to the information sent from other CAN nodes in the CAN and the gateway nodes in the LIN; 6) judging the state of the corresponding edge by the diagnostic module according to step 5); 7) calculating and summing up the failure frequency of each edge by the diagnostic module according to step 6); and 8) locating the edge with the maximum failure frequency as the open-circuit location of the wires according to the step 7), and sending the open-circuit location to the display screen at the diagnostic CAN node for displaying by the diagnostic module.
