A thermal analysis is used to determine the temperature dependent power dissipation of a circuit and the temperature distribution of the circuit resulting from dissipating the heat created by the temperature dependent power dissipation. Then, the components of the design are selectively transformed to reduce the power dissipation and to improve timing based on the temperature solution. The transformation may include placement changes and netlist changes, such as the change of transistor threshold voltages for cells or for blocks of the circuit chip.

An inductive write element is disclosed for use in a magnetic data recording system. The write element provides increased data rate and data density capabilities through improved magnetic flux flow through the element. The write element includes a magnetic yoke constructed of first and second magnetic poles. The first pole includes a pedestal constructed of a high magnetic moment (high Bsat) material, which is preferably FeRhN nanocrystalline films with lamination layers of CoZrCr. The second pole includes a thin inner layer of high Bsat material (also preferably FeRhN nanocrystalline films with lamination layers of CoZrCr), the remainder being constructed of a magnetic material capable of being electroplated, such as a Ni—Fe alloy. An electrically conductive coil passes through the yoke between the first and second poles to induce a magnetic flux in the yoke when an electrical current is caused to flow through the coil. Magnetic flux in the yoke produces a fringing field at a write gap whereby a signal can be imparted onto a magnetic medium passing thereby.

System and method for automatically building an OLAP model in a relational database

A system automatically generates OLAP metadata objects for a multidimensional analysis program such as OLAP from SQL statements without involving the database administrator, and eliminates the need for database administrators to manually perform this analysis and design. The system deconstructs a set of SQL statements into tables and aggregates metrics for measures and joins. It recognizes that the relational database structure contains both dimension tables and fact tables. Over many SQL statements, fact tables will have a large measure metric while dimension tables will have a low measure metric. Tables are linked based on large join metrics; small join metrics are ignored. The present system builds the OLAP cube model from the fact tables, dimension tables, and joins. The analysis of the SQL statements allows the system to map the hierarchies within the dimension table, and provides the system with information about attribute relationships and cubes.

A Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine is used in conjunction with a hybrid powertrain. In addition, driver power demand greater than what can be provided by the HCCI engine may preferably be met through the addition of power from the powertrain's reversible secondary power source (e.g. one or more reversible electric motor / generator(s) or reversible hydraulic pump / motor(s)), thereby avoiding the need for full load operation by the HCCI engine. In this manner, driver power demand may be met by the vehicle with commercially acceptable responsiveness, while simultaneously enabling the use of a highly efficient low emission HCCI engine.

In one embodiment, an original document image is scaled to a predetermined size for processing by a convolutional neural network. The convolutional neural network identifies a probability that each pixel in the scaled is text and generates a heat map of these probabilities. The heat map is then scaled back to the size of the original document image, and the probabilities in the heat map are used to adjust the intensities of the text and non-text pixels. For positive text, intensities of text pixels are reduced and intensities of non-text pixels are increased in order to increase the contrast of the text against the background of the image. Optical character recognition may then be performed on the contrast-adjusted image.
