The grating light valve (GLV) is a "micro projection" technology which operates using a dynamically adjustable diffraction grating. It competes with other light valve technologies such as Digital Light Processing (DLP) and liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) for implementation in video projector devices such as rear-projection televisions. The use of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) in optical applications, which is known as optical MEMS or micro-opto-electro-mechanical structures (MOEMS), has enabled the possibility to combine the mechanical, electrical and optical components in very small scale.

Meanwhile, the micro-power light control signal source technology is adopted to realize the closed-loop light feedback control of the grating light valve type fiber direct-current current sensor, the measurement linearity of the grating light valve type fiber direct-current current sensor is improved in the closed-loop demodulation algorithm, and the dynamic measurement range is increased.

An object build area is exposed to a radiation beam, such as a laser light source, which has been processed and controlled through a grating light valve or valves, or planar light valve, to thereby melt, sinter, fuse or cure predetermined portions of the build area corresponding to the equivalent of individually controlled pixels, with rapid movement and positioning of the resulting LV application output array on the build area. The LV arrangement is adapted to also generally heat an entire powder bed, or targeted areas of the bed, to just below melting temperature.

A multiple stage process may include generating a broad spectrum of light from a laser architecture, filtering and multiplexing the wavelengths of light using an image optimization module, and incoherently averaging the speckle patterns across the various wavelengths using a spatial light modulator architecture.

A grating light valve array and method of making the same

This application discloses a grating light valve array and its fabrication method. The grating light valve array includes: a substrate; a one-dimensional cantilever array disposed above the substrate, wherein the one-dimensional cantilever array adopts a multi-row, multi-column cantilever array, each row of the cantilever array includes multiple sets of cantilever pairs that are equally spaced and parallel to each other, and the number of cantilever pairs in each row of the cantilever array is the same, and multiple cantilever pairs in the same column of different rows are electrically connected sequentially; the absolute value of the difference between the overall horizontal length and the overall vertical length of the multi-row, multi-column cantilever array is less than a preset threshold; and a driving circuit for applying voltage to each cantilever pair to cause the cantilever pair to deform and generate a height difference, wherein the driving circuit applies the same voltage to the cantilever pairs in the same column of different rows. The grating light valve array and its fabrication method of this application can reduce the difficulty of focusing and spot shaping in grating light valve illumination.
