The invention provides a method of implementing virtual switching on router equipment and the router equipment. The method comprises the following steps that at least one routed port is switched to a switch port, a media access control MAC address table and a message grouping strategy are configured, wherein the MAC address table is used for storing corresponding relation between an MAC address and a sending port and the message grouping strategy is used for grouping messages received by the router equipment according to a receiving port of the messages, furthermore, an exchange message carrying a target MAC address is obtained from the switch port, the obtained exchange message is added in an exchange message group according to the message grouping strategy, the sending port corresponding to the target MAC address is determined in the MAC address table according to the target MAC address, and lastly, the exchange message is sent through the sending port. Through a manner of software, the corresponding processing is carried out on the exchange message in the router equipment, so that the cost of a routing and switching all-in-one machine is effectively reduced, and expansibility and flexibility are further effectively improved.

Strategies are described for propagating and responding to announcements within an environment having pre-established social groups, such as pre-established instant messenger social groups. More specifically, a member within a group can create an announcement, whereupon the announcement becomes associated with the member's identity.. The member can then propagate that announcement out as part of their identity to members within the member's immediate social order group. If the member so authorizes, the announcement can also be propagated out to other social groups linked to the member's immediate social group. A member within the immediate social group or one of the linked social groups can responds to the announcement. The use of pre-established social groups to transact announcement-related exchanges provides a level of trust not offered by conventional network-based messaging and merchandising services.
