A novel sensor used for metal corrosion monitoring comprises a power supply module, an MCU control module and a corrosion monitoring module; the power supply module is used for powering up the MCU control module and the corrosion monitoring module; the MCU control module is used for controlling the corrosion monitoring module and analyzing and processing information from the corrosion monitoring module; and the corrosion monitoring module is used for monitoring the corrosion condition of metal to be detected, and uploading data to the MCU control module in real time. The novel sensor adopting noncontact measurement completes short-term pre-estimation and long-term monitoring of the metal corrosion degree. A result of test shows that the performances of the sensor are comparable to those of a desk type constant potential instrument with high price and large size, and so the monitoring ability of the corrosion degree of the metal and especially a steel material is improved.
