A diagnostic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) procedure is applied to measure values of impedance-related parameters for one or more sensing electrodes. The parameters may include real impedance, imaginary impedance, impedance magnitude, and / or phase angle. The measured values of the impedance-related parameters are then used in performing sensor diagnostics, calculating a highly-reliable fused sensor glucose value based on signals from a plurality of redundant sensing electrodes, calibrating sensors, detecting interferents within close proximity of one or more sensing electrodes, and testing surface area characteristics of electroplated electrodes. Advantageously, impedance-related parameters can be defined that are substantially glucose-independent over specific ranges of frequencies. An Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) enables implementation of the EIS-based diagnostics, fusion algorithms, and other processes based on measurement of EIS-based parameters.

Device and Method for the Demodulation Electromagnetic Wave Fields

A new pixel in semiconductor technology comprises a photo-sensitive detection region (1) for converting an electromagnetic wave field into an electric signal of flowing charges, a separated demodulation region (2) with at least two output nodes (D10, D20) and means (IG10, DG10, IG20, DG20) for sampling the charge-current signal at at least two different time intervals within a modulation period. A contact node (K2) links the detection region (1) to the demodulation region (2). A drift field accomplishes the transfer of the electric signal of flowing charges from the detection region to the contact node. The electric signal of flowing charges is then transferred from the contact node (K2) during each of the two time intervals to the two output nodes allocated to the respective time interval. The separation of the demodulation and the detection regions provides a pixel capable of demodulating electromagnetic wave field at high speed and with high sensitivity.

The present invention is directed to a method of producing a substrate suitable for separation of a target molecule from a fluid medium. This method includes providing an emulsion comprising a water phase in an oil phase, where the oil phase contains a polymerizable monomer and the water phase contains the target molecule. The substrate, having pores extending from one side of the substrate to another side of the substrate, is coated with the emulsion, and the monomer in the emulsion coated substrate is then polymerized. The water and target molecule are removed from the polymerized, emulsion coated substrate. As a result, the substrate is imprinted with the target molecule and, therefore, is suitable for separation of the target molecule from a fluid medium. The resulting article and its use are also disclosed.

Method for image sensor calibration and associated devices

An image sensor includes an array of digital pixels, a first frame store for storing reference data, and a second frame store for storing image data. The reference and image data are combine to cancel an off-set of the pixels in the array. A re-set and a calibration phase are performed while a shutter is closed to obtain reference data during a calibration phase. A comparator measures an off-set time to gather information on the off-set of the pixels. During or after an exposure phase a conversion time is measured representative of the illumination on the pixel. During the calibration phase the off-set is measured. This digital technique requires a much smaller voltage swing on the pixel, and known techniques and can be performed in a shorter time. This increases the overall frame rate of the image sensor since the time taken for the reset and calibration phases is less than the time taken for the exposure phase.

A new dual field search coil for pulse induction metal detectors has multiple coplanar wire coils of different diameters connected in series with the output of a pulse source, overcoming the loss of target size resolution associated with a single coil search loop. Small objects are sensed by an internal small coil and larger objects are sensed by the larger outside coil, and the overall depth of target sensing remains similar to that of a single coil construction. The smaller coil is isolated from the pulse source by the inductance of the larger coil and will ring at a frequency determined by its own parameters.
