Deployment system for an expandable device

The present invention is directed to a deployment system for an endoluminal device. The deployment system includes a confining sheath placed around a compacted endoluminal device. A deployment line is provided in the system that is an integral extension of the sheath. As the deployment line is actuated, the sheath retracts from around the compacted endoluminal device. As the sheath retracts from around the endoluminal device, material from the sheath may be converted into deployment line. Once the sheath is retracted from around the compacted endoluminal device, the endoluminal device expands in configuration and repairs vascular or cardiac structures of an implant recipient. Any remaining sheath material is removed from the implantation site along with the deployment line. The deployment system also includes an endo-prosthesis mounting member placed between the endoluminal device and an underlying catheter. The endo-prosthesis mounting member serves to cushion and retain the endoluminal device when constrained by the sheath and may assist in expansion of the endoluminal device when unconstrained by the sheath. The present invention is also directed to a deployment system having a deployment assembly that simultaneously expands an endo-prosthesis mounting member while removing a sheath from an expandable medical device.

An improved tamper-evident package includes a plastic closure having a top wall portion, a depending annular skirt portion, and a tamper band at least partially detachably connected to the skirt portion. The package includes a container having a neck portion configured for tamper-indicating cooperation with the projections on the tamper band. The container includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced ratchet-like locking teeth, each of which presents a locking surface for interfering engagement with the respective one of the projections on the closure tamper band. Notably, disposition of the flexible projections of the pilfer band in pre-determined relationship to an internal thread formation of the closure permits the flexible projections to be positioned so that each of the locking teeth on the container is engaged by a respective one of the flexible projections attendant to very little relative rotation of the closure relative to the container during removal.

Systems for generating electric power from wind are disclosed, which use buoyant aircraft and spinnaker sails to generate very large pulling forces, which will be used to drive electric generators. They can be flown “nose up” during the pulling stage of each power cycle, and “nose down” during retrieval. Spinnaker sails are comparable to horizontal parachutes, with tethering systems that will enable them to be pulled back to a starting location in a “luffing flag” or “closed umbrella” configuration. Because of various factors, spinnaker sails can generate much greater power output and operating efficiency than 3-blade wind turbines. “Webbing sails” made from interwoven straps also are disclosed, which can be used even in extremely high winds.

The resistor chain comprises a plurality of conductive electrodes that to form overlap resistors therebetween. The electrodes have inner portions that are separated by junctions. The touch sensor also includes insulating regions between the touch region and the resistor chain. The insulating regions are separated by gaps to provide a plurality of conductive pathways to the touch region, thereby minimizing non-linear ripple along the sourcing sides of the substrate. Some of the gaps are junction gaps that are formed between the touch region and junctions. Electrically conductive islands are placed within the junction gaps to provide an electrical node within each junction gap, thereby preventing bunching of equipotential lines within the junction, and minimizing non-linear ripple along the non-sourcing sides of the substrate.
