Restocking method for medical item dispensing system

A system for monitoring and dispensing medical items which are dispensed for administration to patients includes a data terminal (76, 338, 538) which is connected through a network (82, 328, 536) to at least one computer (84, 324, 532) having a processor and a data store. The system also includes a reading device (348, 538) which is operatively connected to the network. A user of the data terminal or the reading device is enabled to select a patient for whom medical items will be used, and responsive to a request to dispense items the requested items are dispensed from dispensing devices (96, 100, 344, 346, 450, 527, 540) connected to the data terminal. Storage locations in dispensing devices may be restocked using removable liners. The removable liners are stocked with medical items in a stocking location (550) and transported in a secure condition to the storage locations. The storage locations are accessed by an authorized restocking user. The previously installed liners removed and the new liners installed. The previously installed liners are thereafter returned to the stocking location for reuse.

System and method for synchronous rectifier drive that enables converters to operate in transition and discontinuous mode

A synchronous rectifier is switched in accordance with a primary switch transition and a reference signal representing current in a current storage device to which the synchronous rectifier is coupled. A current emulator provides a signal representing current in the current storage device as a volt-second product so that current stored in the current storage device while the primary switch is on is discharged by the synchronous rectifier. The use of a current emulator provides an inexpensive solution for controlling synchronous rectifier transitions without resorting to more expensive current sensing solutions that are commercially impracticable. Blanking intervals are provided for avoiding false transitions of the synchronous rectifier when the primary switch turns on and after the synchronous rectifier turns off. The disclosed system and method can be applied to flyback converters for a synchronous rectifier on the secondary side of a transformer, or the inductor of buck converters.

Light-emitting layer and light-emitting element

To provide a highly efficient organic light-emitting element. An extremely thin layer (a monomolecular film or the like) containing an organic light-emitting material such as an iridium complex is provided between a layer of an n-type organic material (an organic material having a high electron-transport property) and a layer of a p-type organic material (an organic material having a high hole-transport property). In a structure described above, in a layer of the organic light-emitting material, electrons are injected from the LUMO of the n-type organic material to the LUMO of the organic light-emitting material, and holes are injected from the HOMO of the p-type organic material to the HOMO of the organic light-emitting material, whereby the organic light-emitting material is brought into an excited state and emits light.

Radio communication system

A sleep length calculation unit 410 of a terminal calculates a sleep length based on what is contained in a PLCP header of a frame, and sets the calculated length on a timer 430. An address detection unit 420 of the terminal detects a destination address from inside a MAC header of the frame to see if this frame is destined for another terminal. If the frame is found destined for another terminal, then this terminal gives a power supply unit 180 an instruction to start sleeping while causing the timer 430 to start counting time. When the sleep length is found to have elapsed on the timer 430, the terminal gives the power supply unit 180 an instruction to stop sleeping. If what is contained in the PLCP header or MAC header is not deemed reliable, then a sleep inhibit determination unit 440 inhibits the power supply unit 180 from going to sleep. The structure allows a wireless communication system to effect a transition into power-saving mode upon acquiring necessary information, without making changes to existing standards.

Method of dispensing and tracking the giving of medical items to patients

A method of tracking and dispensing the dispense of medical items for use by patients associated with a health care institution, includes storing in a data store in connection with a computer, data representative of patients and medical items prescribed for the patients. Authorized users such as nurses, are enabled to dispense prescribed items for patients through medical item dispensers. A record is included in the data store that the medical items have been dispensed. In an exemplary system (650) medical items that have been dispensed are tracked to the point of giving the item to the patients using portable terminals (662) that are carried to the bedside of the patients. The activity of giving the appropriate medical item to each respective patient is recorded in the portable terminal as medical items are given to a plurality of patients. The data stored in the portable terminal concerning the giving of medical items to patients is communicated through the system and stored in the data store to provide a record that the medical items which were dispensed for a patient, were actually administered.

Method and apparatus for plasma generation

In a simple method and device for producing plasma flows of a metal and / or a gas electric discharges are periodically produced between the anode and a metal magnetron sputtering cathode in crossed electric and magnetic fields in a chamber having a low pressure of a gas. The discharges are produced so that each discharge comprises a first period with a low electrical current passing between the anode and cathode for producing a metal vapor by magnetron sputtering, and a second period with a high electrical current passing between the anode and cathode for producing an ionization of gas and the produced metal vapor. Instead of the first period a constant current discharge can be used. Intensive gas or metal plasma flows can be produced without forming contracted arc discharges. The selfsputtering phenomenon can be used.

Semiconductor device

A transistor includes oxide semiconductor stacked layers between a first gate electrode layer and a second gate electrode layer through an insulating layer interposed between the first gate electrode layer and the oxide semiconductor stacked layers and an insulating layer interposed between the second gate electrode layer and the oxide semiconductor stacked layers. The thickness of a channel formation region is smaller than the other regions in the oxide semiconductor stacked layers. Further in this transistor, one of the gate electrode layers is provided as what is called a back gate for controlling the threshold voltage. Controlling the potential applied to the back gate enables control of the threshold voltage of the transistor, which makes it easy to maintain the normally-off characteristics of the transistor.
