Dynamically generated HTML formatted reports

A report generating and viewing method (10) for generating and viewing reports (72) over the internet (16). A request from a browser (14) is sent to a server (12) whereupon a generate reports program (38) in a server (12) creates an intermediate file (44) containing all the necessary data and metadata. When a request from the browser (14) to view the report (72) is sent, a view reports program (60) in the server (12) parses the intermediate file (44) and sends a menu (66) to the browser (14). The user then selects a report from the menu (66) and the server (12) sends the report (72) to the browser (14).

Image analysis, editing and search techniques

Disclosed is a method for characterizing the content of a digital image. A component of the method is the homogeneity measure, which calculates a value or values based on the local similarity of portions of a sample area. A further component is a means of optimally adjusting the shape and offset of the local sample area to improve the resulting measure. The homogeneity measure may be applied at a higher level to segment an image, by grouping together larger portions of an image whose sub-components are locally similar. A strongly homogeneous region is a contiguous region composed of elements exhibiting local homogeneity better than that of surrounding elements, and may be applied to identify the scale and other characteristics of a portion of an image. This may be used to facilitate algorithms that separate lighting and texturing information, and in identifying the composition of an image.

Data-driven noise reduction technique for analog to digital converters

A successive operation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) circuit includes a bit reliability circuit that detects a delay time of the voltage comparator and, if the detected delay time is greater than a delay threshold time τMV, outputs a bit reliability decision signal; a digital noise reduction circuit that is selectively activated if the bit reliability decision signal indicates the detected delay time is greater than the delay threshold time τMV and produces a noise-reduced decision output that supersedes the decision output of the voltage comparator. In a preferred embodiment, the digital noise reduction circuit uses a multiple voting logic to produce a majority vote value as the noise-reduced decision output.

Transporting media programs, advertisement metadata, and advertisement selection code through data transport containers for use by an advertisement insertion node

A data transport container is used to transport information from a content provider network node to an advertisement insertion network node. The data transport container encloses a media program, program metadata, advertisement metadata, and advertisement selection code. The advertisement insertion network node selects among a plurality of advertisements, which may also be received through the data transport container, in response to at least the advertisement selection code and the advertisement metadata. The selected advertisements are combined with the media program in response to the program metadata to generate a combined media program. The combined media program is communicated to a subscriber equipment unit. The data transport container may contain Material eXchange Format (MXF) encoded content. Accordingly, the advertisement insertion network node may be configured to decode MXF encoded content of the data transport container to extract the media program, the program metadata, the advertisement metadata, and the advertisement selection code into separate files.

Wireless network system for efficiently delivering multimedia messages

The present invention provides a wireless network system that enables direct wireless delivery of a multimedia message from a first MMS user agent to a second MMS user agent. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the wireless network system includes a MMS server that receives, from the first MMS user agent, a request to send a multimedia message to the second MMS user agent. The request includes an identification (ID) number of the second MMS user agent. From a core network, for example, the MMS server obtains an Internet address of the second MMS user agent based on the ID number of the second MMS user agent, if the ID number is not an Internet address of the second MMS user agent. Then the MMS server forwards the Internet address to the first MMS user agent to enable the first MMS user agent to wirelessly deliver the multimedia message directly to the second MMS user agent using the Internet address. Therefore, by not involving a MMS server in delivering multimedia messages, a substantial amount of network resources is saved, and delivery speed of multimedia messages is significantly increased. As a result, the performance of the overall network system is greatly improved.
