The method comprises the following steps of: performing reduction treatment on the deluvial slope type ilmentie, wherein reducing agents are coal, tar and the like; controlling a reduction temperature and a reduction time; performing oxidation treatment on the reduced ilmentie at the temperature of between 700 and 900 DEG C until a shell of rutile microcrystal and a ferric layer is generated on a mineral surface, wherein an oxidant is oxygen; performing atmospheric multi-segment counterflow fluidization leaching on the oxidized ilmentie by using diluted hydrochloric acid, controlling a concentration of the diluted hydrochloric acid and an acid leaching temperature, and then removing soluble impurities in the ilmentie after more than three segments of leaching; and then washing, filtering, drying and roasting the leached material after being subjected to acid leaching to obtain the synthetic rutile. The method has the advantages of preventing pulverization, keeping a crude ore grain size, along high acid leaching efficiency, high use ratio, simple process, low cost and easy operation.
