An electric power conversion apparatus includes: a first electric power terminal including two coupling terminals; a voltage sensor detecting a voltage between the two coupling terminals; a switching circuit coupled to the first electric power terminal; a transformer including a first winding coupled to the switching circuit, and a second winding; a rectifying circuit coupled to the second winding; a smoothing circuit; a second electric power terminal; and a control circuit. The control circuit causes the rectifying circuit to supply electric power from the second electric power terminal toward the first electric power terminal in a second period that precedes a first period during which electric power is supplied from the first electric power terminal toward the second electric power terminal, and detects a short circuit between the two coupling terminals by comparing the voltage detected by the voltage sensor with a predetermined threshold voltage, in the second period.

Isolated inverter system optimized for dynamic load conditions

The present invention relates to an isolated inverter system optimized for dynamic load conditions. In order to prevent an abnormal phenomenon from occurring in the inverter system depending on load characteristics of an electric motor or the like, in a converter comprising a PWM IC chip, a switching element, a high-frequency transformer, and a photocoupler, the high-frequency transformer outputs a direct current voltage (Vout) through a secondary rectification stage and a smoothing operation of a capacitor, a feedback path is set such that a signal extracted from the direct current voltage (Vout) is applied to the PWM IC chip through the photocoupler, and a smoothing circuit for refining the extracted signal is added to the feedback path. According to the present invention, an inverter system having a structure in which an inverter is connected to an isolated DC-DC converter can be safely operated even under dynamic load conditions, and the risk of electric shock can be greatly reduced even if there is body contact with an output system of the inverter system.

The control circuit is capable of controlling the switching operation so as to supply power from the second power terminal toward the first power terminal in a second period before the first period, is capable of controlling an operation of the voltage detection circuit so as to apply a predetermined voltage to the second node in a third period before the second period, and is capable of diagnosing the voltage detection circuit based on a voltage of the output node of the voltage detection circuit in the third period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
