The multi-wave MAC control sublayer is specifically used for assigning at least one logical link identifier for optical network units when the optical network units are registered, binding one of the logical link identifiers with MAC addresses of the optical network units, and scheduling the registered optical network units on the wavelength pairs with the least number of the optical network units. By the aid of the automatic wavelength tuning method and the automatic wavelength tuning system, mutual coordination among the wavelength pairs can be achieved, the bandwidth of the whole system is fully used, and load balance among the wavelength pairs can be realized.
