Method for the Enhancement of Injection Activities and Stimulation of Oil and Gas Production

By removing material of low permeability from within and around a perforation tunnel and creating at least one fracture at the tip of a perforation tunnel, injection parameters and effects such as outflow rate and, in the case of multiple perforation tunnels benefiting from such cleanup, distribution of injected fluids along a wellbore are enhanced. Following detonation of a charge carrier, a second explosive event is triggered within a freshly made tunnel, thereby substantially eliminating a crushed zone and improving the geometry and quality (and length) of the tunnel. In addition, this action creates substantially debris-free tunnels and relieves the residual stress cage, resulting in perforation tunnels that are highly conducive to injection under fracturing conditions for disposal and stimulation purposes, and that promote even coverage of injected fluids across the perforated interval.

Isolation damper with proofing

An isolation damper for preventing the migration of air from a ventilated space includes a high differential pressure sealing chamber in the damper assembly that prevents the flow of air from the “clean” side of the damper assembly to the “dirty” side thereof. Pressurized air leaking out of the sealing chamber creates reverse flow leakage toward the dirty side which assures the clean side air is not contaminated by the dirty side air. Differential pressure between the sealing chamber and the dirty side is monitored with the differential pressure reported and alarmed externally if reductions in pressure indicate the sealing effect of the sealing chamber could be affected.

Determining Absolute and Relative Tissue Oxygen Saturation

An oximeter probe is user configurable for being in an absolute reporting mode and a relative reporting mode for measured values. The measured values for the absolute and relative modes include absolute oxygen saturation, relative oxygen saturation, absolute hemoglobin content, relative hemoglobin content, absolute blood volume, relative blood volume. The relative modes and absolute modes for determining and reporting relative or absolute hemoglobin content or relative or absolute blood volume for individual patients are beneficial when determining the efficacy of administered medications, such as epinephrine, that effect blood flow, but not oxygen saturation, in tissue, such as skin. The oximeter probe in these relative modes displays the efficacy of the administered medication as reported values for relative hemoglobin content or relative blood volume fall or rise.
